Chotto Matte, the London-based Nikkei cuisine hotspot recently opened its first U.S. outpost on Lincoln Road. The chic, modern eatery boasts a fully retractable roof, a mammoth boulder, palm trees, and wraparound mural featuring the whimsical graphic art of local Miami artists Marcel Katz and Ahol Sniffs Glue. Consider these sleek and sexy interiors and fun party vibe all added bonuses: Chotto Matte’s food speaks for itself. Offering a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine with a whole-hearted focus on freshness and creativity, dishes like grilled octopus with yuzu and purple potato and marinated and smoked lamb chops with cilantro and Peruvian chilli miso are beyond comparison.The Nikkei-dressed sushi is a life-changing experience of flavors and presentation, from the set of four pieces featuring tuna yuzu soy, scallop aji amarillo, salmon black garlic butter,  and yellowtail yuzu truffle to the salmon picante roll with salmon, aji amarillo, pickled cucumber, and Chotto-soy emulsion.The fact that some rolls can be torched tableside adds to the glee.

Guests wanting the inside scoop on how to create some of these stellar dishes will be thrilled to learn Chotto Matte’s founder,  restauranteur Kurt Zdesar, will be debuting an exclusive culinary experience this Wednesday, August 1 at 7:00 pm. Diners will prepare their own Maki Sushi Roll (selecting preferred fillings) and enjoy a tasting featuring 10 sensational Nikkei dishes paired with Peruvian Pisco Sours, Japanese Sake cocktails and fine wine. The evening offers a wonderful introduction to Nikkei cuisine and cocktails in the elevated ambiance of this exclusive restaurant.
