Tequila Oro
The “Gold” standard for agave drinks
By Matt Robinson
In the
hands of an experienced bartender or host, tequila can be made into a work of art.
How much better, then, when the tequila itself starts out in a work of art? Crafted
top to bottom by Mexican artisans, Tequila Oro (literally “gold tequila”)
is beautiful through and through.
At base, Tequila Oro is a fine liquor — either in its blanco, reposado, añejo
or nine-year aged tequila extra style, all of which are made with 100-percent blue
agave tequilana weber plants. And while it’s what’s inside that counts,
it is the container that makes this tequila magnifico.
While the packaging is very important as it often shapes the public perspective
on the product inside, most often, the packaging is designed after the product has
been refined. In the case of Tequila Oro, however, the opposite appears to be the
case.

Boston Red Sox Release Wines for Charity
By Matt Robinson
Despite
its Puritanical roots, Boston is a pretty charitable town. Most of those who “got
it” are willing to part with some of it for the sake of those that don’t.
So it may be no surprise to learn that three of our beloved Red Sox are the first
professional athletes to authorize the use of their names and images on a trio of
wines to benefit their favorite charities. Manny Ramirez, Curt Schilling, and Tim
Wakefield have teamed up with Charity Wines (the philanthropic division of VinLozano
Imports Inc.) and the sports marketing firm Charity Hop, to launch this unique offering.
The idea evolved when John Corcoran, president of Charity Wines saw the Charity
Hop website. “We selected the players by going after the best and most popular
players in the Boston market,” says Charity Hop co-founder Brett Rudy, “and
never taking ‘no’ for an answer.”
