The 70th Emmy Awards took place in Los Angeles on Monday September 17, 2018. We highlight some of our favorite red-carpet and humorous moments.
The glamorous couple graced the red carpet, with John looking dapper in a tuxedo that according to him, “who knew my tux would blend in to the background so perfectly”. Following his EGOT win a few days prior, Chrissy couldn’t be prouder of her dashing husband. Having given birth to the couple’s second child, Miles three months earlier, Chrissy was glittering in a silver Zuhair Murad gown. The thigh-high split displayed her perfectly sculpted legs and the striking pair showed why they are one of Hollywood’s power couples.
Gorgeous actress Thandie Newton clenched an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Maeve Millay in HBO’s Westworld. This is her first Emmy win, and hopefully not her last! The British-born actress wore a one-shoulder Brandon Maxwell gown, completing her look with strappy silver heels. Her acceptance speech sparked controversy when she said: “I don’t even believe in God, but I’m going to thank her tonight.”
As the host of The Daily Show, South African born Trevor Noah knows how to jazz up his attire for a swanky event such as the Emmys. Pictured looking at his reflection, with the caption “I’m looking at the man in the mirror”, he ensured the most suave entry at the Emmys in a yellow Lamborghini Urus, his ‘weekend special’. Despite not winning the coveted Emmy in the Outstanding Variety Talk Series he was nominated for, Trevor was very entertaining, poking fun at the fact that he spent all his money on his suit and couldn’t afford a chauffeur. He proceeded to get pal Justin Timberlake to snap a photo with his fellow nominees, Jimmy Kimmel and James Corden.
The funny side of parenting isn’t lost on actress-singer duo Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake. When the couple posted two pre-Emmy photographs, Justin’s caption was “We got a babysitter” and Jessica wrote “Our faces when we learned there’s no booze at the #Emmys”. It was a big night for the couple – Jessica was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie as Cora Tannetti in The Sinner and Justin’s Super Bowl LII Halftime was nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special. Jessica stunned in a while scalloped strapless Ralph & Russo gown with Harry Winston jewels while Justin looked very handsome in a Tom Ford black tuxedo.
