EVs are the new battleground and Fisker Inc. is all too familiar with this since it already had the Fisker Karma many years back. However, this time, its new car is in form of an all-new SUV rather than a sleek sports saloon. A midsize luxury SUV forms the perfect canvas for an EV in terms of instant acceptability in the market and the new Fisker Ocean aims to rival the likes of the Tesla Model X and the Ford Mustang Mach-E. The Fisker Ocean is a radical design and bursting with some innovative features including its Fisker SolarSky roof which would additionally supply 2,0002 miles of range per year and 1,500 under typical sunny California.

Fisker claims that it is the most sustainable vehicle firstly being manufactured by Magna-Steyr at a carbon-neutral factory in Graz, Austria while the SUV also has a completely vegan interior, using recycled materials, including reclaimed fishing nets, old t-shirts, and renewed rubber. The design though is different and portrays the classic SUV design with big wheels and minimalistic detailing. However, Fisker claims that the Ocean will literally give you a convertible-like experience with its ‘California Mode’ where, at the push of a button, the Fisker Ocean can lower all its windows and retract its sliding roof.

The other radical bit is the interior which has a gigantic screen and it revolves into a moving cinema theatre of sorts. The 17.1-inch central high-resolution screen in its default mode is placed in a portrait viewing angle but when stationary, the screen changes onto a landscape Hollywood Mode. The Fisker Ocean can also power your home as a sort of an emergency backup or even lend a hand to other EVs in need of a charge.

Like all new EVs, the Ocean in its top-end configurations will feature an all-wheel-drive, dual-motor layout in form of the Fisker Ocean Ultra and Fisker Ocean Extreme. Expect the range to be around 340 miles and 350-plus miles. In terms of speed, the Fisker Ocean Sport will go from 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds while the Ocean Ultra will have an estimated 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds- with an estimated peak horsepower of 540 hp. The Fisker Ocean Extreme and Fisker Ocean One will have an estimated 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds, with an estimated peak horsepower of 550 hp.

Surprisingly the pricing has already been announced and it is not a pipe dream with the base Fisker Ocean Sport trim level being priced at $37,499 while the Fisker Ocean Ultra comes in at $49,999, and finally, the Fisker Ocean Extreme costs $68,999. The first 5,000 vehicles made will be Fisker Ocean One, being priced at $68,999.

You can buy one at the end of 2022 but reservations are open for a $250 deposit. First impressions indicate this being a stylish albeit more eco-conscious SUV but challenging Tesla on its own turf will not be easy for sure!
