ISA Yachts, The World’s First Water-Jet Hybrid Propelled Superyacht
ISA Yachts most recent launch is planing motor yacht SILVER WIND, which was ordered in 2013 and delivered in 2014, becomes the world’s first yacht to boast a combination of water jets and hybrid propulsion.
The Italian yacht builders have become internationally renowned for introducing cutting edge technology into their boats, and SILVER WIND is no different. As mentioned above, she can be propelled by a hybrid water-jet system, with which she can reach a cruising speed of eight knots. ISA Yachts has therefore pronounced the yacht as the solution to many potential owners’ problem of wishing to own a superyacht, yet looking for a vessel with low consumption. M/Y SILVER WIND provides the perfect answer to this problem due to the system developed by ISA Yachts in conjunction with Siemens.
One particular benefit of this hybrid propulsion system that will appeal to interested buyers, is the minimal maintenance costs. The system ensures that both the engines and the generators run for less time per year than the average superyacht and will therefore have less wear and tear.
Whilst the yacht’s cruising speed of eight knots with the engines turned off makes M/Y SILVER WIND feel and sound more like a sailing yacht, when using the twin diesel engines, the yacht can reach a top speed of 32 knots and cruises at 26 knots.
The importance of outdoor space has always been an integral part of luxury yacht manufacturers ISA Yachts’ projects and M/Y SILVER Wind continues this trend. The yacht has three decks and provides ample outdoor deck space, ensuring that guests will be able to relax in complete comfort as the boat cruises through the water. Her sporty exterior was styled by Andrea Vallicelli.
The interior of the yacht boasts five cabins and sleeps up to ten guests. Designed by Valentina Zannier in collaboration with Nuvolari & Lenard, the interior has a classic, but contemporary feel, with light colored timbers and furniture. The upholstery comes courtesy of Hermes and Armani Casa, ensuring guests can expect only the best in comfort and style whilst travelling aboard M/Y SILVER WIND. The dining area also features an exquisite chandelier and a custom built and designed table, whilst other areas of the vessel have been furnished by the likes of Fendi.
Another outstanding feature of this 43.63 metre luxury yacht is the fully custom-made bridge, which has been specially built by famous names in electronic navigation systems, such as Rolls Royce and Transas.
