Space is the final frontier that the travel industry is now setting its sights on. One of them is Neptune One, Space Perspective’s ticket to changing space travel. Founded in 2019, Space Perspective was created to make space travel more accessible and the Neptune One space capsule will bring a new era in space travel. It will be the world’s first luxury spaceflight experience and the recent test flight of the Neptune One is a step towards that. This idea has been the brainchild of space travel experts Jane Poynter and Taber MacCallum. The flights to space, for which reservations are now open at $125,000 each, will begin in late 2024. What will take the tourists to space would be a pressurized capsule which would gently lift the passengers at 100,000 ft/30,000 m to space for two hours.
This enables the chance to explore for a lot more people along with being safer. The total trip would take six hours inside the Spaceship Neptune and passengers can take in 360-degree views of planet Earth from 20 mi/30 km above. What will propel it is a super balloon- the size of a football stadium. There is space for up to eight guests on a flight while the amenities on offer include looking at the views from the comfort of a reclining seat to even a bar along with a bathroom!
The test program consisted of the first space launch operator flying from Space Coast Air and Spaceport, located adjacent to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. The test flights are happening without crew and making sure the vehicle has backup and various safety systems. The commercial flights, will, of course, have a captain on board. Safety protocols that would be observed include applying flight technology used for decades by NASA and other government entities around the globe. The crew would be handpicked and have been involved in human space balloon flights for the last 50 years.
The passengers will ascend from a launch pad at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to soar above 99% of Earth’s atmosphere in a two-hour tour of our planet’s biosphere, from inside the capsule of Spaceship Neptune and its vast viewing windows. Throughout the six-hour journey, all guests will take in the 450-mile, 360-degree view plus an open call on dress code, champagne, etc.
Unlike space rockets, there is minimal preparation or physical demands for the passengers. This approach to luxury space travel is also zero-emission. Each Space Perspective capsule will have up to eight guests and be accompanied by a pilot, with a co-pilot on the ground. It seems space is not so far after all for travelers now!
