Superyachts are big, luxurious, and heavy carbon emitters, but changing that are yachts built that use technology and recycled materials. Benetti, an Italian shipyard, has introduced the greenest model ever built in its class – the Benetti B.Yond 37M. A product of the revolutionary vision of Paolo Vitelli, Founder and President of Azimut|Benetti Group, and architect Stefano Righini, Benetti B.YOND 37M embodies the excellence of a new Voyager series. It truly reflects the style of the modern owner.

Moving away from popular fiberglass, Benetti returns to a steel body – a material that guarantees durability and solidity, especially for long cruises. Benetti pioneered metal introduction in the yachting world, replacing wood. The white steel hull was designed by Pierluigi Ausonio’s firm P.L.A.N.A. With an aluminum superstructure, the hull expresses the personality and elegance of B.Yond 37M, complemented by white stainless-steel railings and contrasted by teak handrails.

For propulsion, the four-deck B.Yond 37M is the world’s greenest yacht in its class thanks to the combination of SCR catalytic filters – a gas control technology using a urea-based liquid solution – and the innovative Siemens Energy’s E-Mode Hybrid system. Based on a crew-friendly integrated add-on architecture, the system optimizes onboard energy consumption according to specific user profiles. This innovative solution also offers the freedom of four operating modes, including the standout Full Electric mode for zero emission navigation.

Paolo Vitelli, Founder and President of Azimut|Benetti Group, commented: “I am happy to present one of the most innovative boats ever built. Equipped with a hybrid system for long-range, environment-friendly cruising and featuring a four-deck layout with a length of just 37 meters, this is a dream come true for modern owners who want to cruise around the world with their family and friends. In my imagination, I saw a record-breaking boat, and here it is”.

The lithium battery pack also makes it possible to stay at anchor in Hotel Mode with zero emissions, keeping the generators switched off and running the main onboard utilities from the batteries, which translates to vibration-free silence during anchor. The batteries take only three hours to recharge completely. The 00 kW/h pack provides 8 hours of autonomy at anchor during the day and 12 hours at night. The CO2 can be reduced by up to 24% and NOx by a maximum of 85%. That isn’t all; the B.Yond 37M has an incredible range, almost double that of traditional navettes of the same size. Delivering up to 8,200 nautical miles at 9 knots (10 mph/14 kph) in Eco Transfer – with two diesel generators switched off and only one propulsion engine running – is a primary reason for reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The vessel’s top speed is 14 knots (16 mph/25.7 kph).

The revolutionary concept devised by Stefano Righini features the inclusion of a fourth deck, giving the noblest areas incredible panoramic views. The service area on the Lower Deck has a walk-in wine cellar and a cold room, while the Main Deck provides the night area for guests, offering four suites accessed from a panoramic lounge – Playroom as the brand likes to call them. The Upper Deck features a living space that offers an entirely unobstructed 360-degree view. The Bridge Deck is exclusive for the owner with a dining area with a pantry and an outdoor table with a hard top. The yacht’s layout is highly flexible, and the owner can alter it according to their preferences; for example, a gym can replace an additional guest cabin.

Architect Mauro Izzo, the interior design by Benetti offers even more potential for customization. The owner can lend their taste and personality to the yacht to live on as if it were a second home. The furnishing is by leading contemporary design brand Giorgetti, which accommodates all the owner’s requests in an embodiment of beauty and functionality. A palette of natural colors is enhanced by accents of blue, compliments the white walls, and echoes the color of the sea.

B.Yond 37M features two stairways – one for guests and one for the crew, providing completely separate flows, and ensuring total privacy for both owner and guests. The spacious garage can hold a 6.5-meter tender, a 4.2-meter rescue boat, and two jet skis – located wholly protected and in an out-of-sight area.
