Callender Howorth reveals its latest bespoke interior design project – Heath Drive, Hampstead

Luxury interior design practice Callender Howorth unveils “the remodelling of a Grade II” his latest listed building project in Hampstead.

Founded by Mark Howorth in 1997, Callender Howorth is a multi-discipline luxury interior design practice of elite designers offering its clientele interior architecture, interior design, styling and furniture, garden design, project management and a complete build service for luxury residences and commercial spaces.

The 3-storey Heath Drive home is located within the Hampstead Conservation Area and was built-in 1905. One of a number of Arts and Crafts houses constructed at the turn of the 20th century by celebrated architect CHB Quennell, the historic property had undergone conversion into three separate apartments in the 1970’s.

The client came to Callender Howorth with a specific remit: to return the property to its original form, with a modern take on the Art and Crafts style. Another key element of the brief was to infuse the project with design and styling references to the client’s Indian heritage and working closely with the planning department and English Heritage, the expert team at Callender Howorth were able to space plan the three floors into a state of the art home that met with client, planning department and heritage approval.

“The project involved a complete remodeling of the house to create a stunning contemporary family home whilst being sensitive to the architectural history of the house and its Grade II listed building status.”

Callender Howorth undertook the interior with a focus on adding light and enhancing the  views out to the glorious rear garden. Fretwork was commissioned that draws upon distinctive Indian motives, and state of the art technology was integrated into the house for lighting, security and audio-visual systems. A custom-designed wine room was set off from the kitchen to showcase the clients’ impressive fine wine collection.

As for the style of the house, Callender Howorth’s interior stylists sourced all furniture and furnishings with this client specifically in mind providing key vintage pieces which were sourced directly from India, and two paintings from the renowned Indian artist Sakti Burman completed the spectrum.
