Dr Galyna Selezneva is a leading aesthetic doctor and psychiatrist, currently at one of the world’s top-rated clinics, Dr Rita Rakus in Knightsbridge, London. Renowned in the industry for her expertise in non-surgical body sculpting treatments and understanding the motivations of her cosmetic patients she is a must-visit for anyone looking to change their body. We catch up with Galyna to find out more about her and her tips for a summer body.
Tell us about your background…
I worked in psychiatry and I am also a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists; this gives me a unique understanding when and sometimes why my patient’s presents with concerns regarding their appearance.
I myself went thrown multiple body ‘stages’ experienced yo-yo dieting and can probably write a ‘what not to do guide’ to weight management on my own experience. I have a busy lifestyle trying to balance work/life situations so know how precious time is in modern life and use technology to achieve natural results and make my body work harder.
How did you get into the beauty industry?
I was born to a family of doctors. My mother took me to see a dermatologist at the age of 13 when I started having skin problems, since that moment my philosophy became that it’s easier to prevent problems than to deal with consequences, so I practice preventative medicine. In the 90s my family were one of the pioneers of technological medicine and I used my first ever radio frequency machine in 1999. Plus as a woman, I follow all the latest trends and embrace my age with few little secrets!
Where did you train?
I was trained in Ukraine and then went for postgraduate training in the UK, but the world of Aesthetic medicine is very fast and specific. I travel often for my training, for example, I attended Coolsculpting University in California, USA and regularly travel to the states for all the recent trends and most up to date treatments.
What has been your career highlight to date?
Being named in Tatler’s cosmetic medicine guide two years in a row for my body treatments, best in Coolsculpting etc. But the true highlight of my career was a present that my 74-year-old bride patient gave me, as my present she decided to wear a white dress and have bridal flowers, she felt so confident that she gave it to me as a present…before she wanted to wear beige!!!
Which are your top 3 recommended treatments and why?
It has to be skin tightening, body contouring and SPF protection.
Are there any treatments that you can recommend for summer in particular?
Arm definition: all my patients are worried about the summer fashion and no sleeve dresses so my signature treatment is The Chanel job where we first use Coolsculpting to reduce the volume and define the arm and the ULTRAcell to tighten the skin on the arms
The bum lift: magnetic muscle induction machine, 6 months of Pilates in 6 sessions.
Bikini body: the leg treatments to reduce cellulite and define the knee.
