With newer superyachts launching every week, devising a superyacht concept that stands out isn’t that easy anymore. Designers continue to push against the boundaries with more and more innovative vessel designs. One such great result comes from Rome-based Lazzarini Design Studio with their latest project Saturnia. The unveiling of Lazzarini’s new concept comes after the design studio revealed a series of nature-inspired designs, including the Prodigium, which was notably shaped like a shark, and Avanguardia, the 137-meter idea with a vast control tower resembling the head of a swan from 2020, the Lazzarini Design Studio returns with a 328-foot long (100-meter) superyacht that redefines innovating design.
The 100-meter vessel is designed to be made entirely of dry carbon fiber. According to the designer, this material will make the superyacht “50 percent lighter than boats of the same size”. Lazzarini‘s concept features a broad walkable deck area and openings on both sides that lift to reveal a private port for tenders, accommodating tenders with a draft of up to 1.5 meters to moor inside. When her tender garage doors are deployed, the doors transform into a balcony with a seating area.
Saturnia can be customized to have between 10 and 20 suites for guests and up to 20 crew members. Fitted with high ceilings and huge sliding windows, the superyacht is split across five different floors and features a rooftop antenna area. However, the layout isn’t set in stone, and the interior can be customized based on the owner’s requirements. The interiors are characterized by high ceilings and large, sliding glass windows that connect inside and out. As is customary for a superyacht design of this stature, Saturnia is to be equipped with several top amenities, including several pools and alfresco dining areas, a launchpad for eVTOLs, and a glass-bottom lounge.
While being at the top of its game in terms of design and entertainment, Saturnia is also a superyacht that protects the sea it sails on. The vessel’s lightweight hull gives ample space for the hybrid propulsion system consisting of twin diesel engines and a central electronic water jet system to pull her at an incredible speed, with predictions that she can reach a top speed of 30 knots with zero emissions.
While the Saturnia concept is still in the early stages of the design process, the project is already generating interest. The Lazzarini team is hopeful that a buyer will come on board. Lazzarini design studio estimates that the Saturnia superyacht concept could be built for USD 300,000,000 in about 30 months.
