Blackwell Rum will launch a new 007 limited edition bottle of Chris Blackwell’s Fine Jamaican Rum to tie in with Daniel Craig’s last James Bond film. “No Time To Die.” Whenever it eventually premieres.

The rum features an augmented reality experience available via a QR code on its label where Blackwell shares life stories, music selections, and cocktail recipes.

“Bond has been a big part of my life, from my childhood lunches with Ian Fleming at GoldenEye to being a location scout on the first movie, Dr. No (1962),’ says Blackwell. ‘” was a pleasure working alongside the No Time To Die production team in Jamaica providing our iconic rum for the set in James Bond’s house, which has made this exceptional relationship come full circle.”

He also starred but was uncredited in Dr. No.As a henchman jumping into the dock!

Blackwell, 83, a former record producer, founded “Island Records” in 1959,  playing an important part in Bob Marley, Grace Jones, and U2.

His father was a major in the Jamaican Regiment. He went to Harrow School and became aide-de-camp to the Governor of Jamaica. His first Number One hit was Laurel Aitken’s “Boogie in my Bones/Little Sheila.” He has worked with some of the great names of music. Toots and the Maytals introduced the term reggae in song with the 1968 “Do The Reggay.” He built the Compass Point Studios in Nassau in the Bahamas.

Author Ian Fleming wrote all the Bond books in his Goldeneye home in Oravabessa. Now a community of villas and beach cottages, Goldeneye is part of Island Outpost’s Jamaican resorts- Strawberry Hill in the Blue Mountains where Marley recuperated after being shot Caves in Negril. Island Outpost also owns The Tides and the Marlin in Miami Beach.

The Jamaican origins of the rum tie in well with the new 007 franchise production plot, which opens with Bond having left service and enjoying a tranquil life on the Caribbean island.

Blackwell introduced his own brand of rum, “Blackwell Black Gold,” in 2009.

Bowmore has also launched its Aston Martin DB5 Black Whisky 1964”, the year Dr. No premiered.
