Storywood Tequila is the only tequila fully matured in Speyside whiskey casks. “The new range represents the heart of Mexico and the soul of Scotland,”  says its Scottish founder,  chef, whiskey enthusiast, and wood aging expert, Michael Ballantyne. The latter was inspired to create his innovative tequila after visiting his mother’s hometown of San Miguel De Allende in Mexico and meeting master distiller, Luis Trejo.

Ballantyne adds: “Our mission is to bring new flavors to tequila through the oak. We work with distilleries, wineries, and cooperages from around the world to hunt for the freshest casks. Our oak and flavors are what we love, but it’s the places we go and the people that we meet along the way that become our story. Storywood Tequila is our chapter one. With many more to come.”

Storywood Reposado 40 and AnejoThe premium tequilas start with a 10-year-old mature 100% Blue Weber agave, which is harvested from the lowland region of Jalisco and is married with the natural spring water from Volcan de Tequila that flows down from the mountains. This liquid is then aged in handpicked S casks, flown over from Dufftown, Scotland.  Available in 7 months and 14 month aged tequilas as well as a limited edition tequila aged in  Scottish malt whiskey and Oloroso sherry casks.
