A power-house of talent, the Grammy award winning artist has his hands dipped in all things trending and millennial. From launching a Miami eatery to collaborating with Adidas once again (NMD Human Race Sneakers) Pharrell has his eyes set on Pret-a-Porter fashion for 2019.
The singer and producer, globally renowned for peppy hits such as Happy and Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, made his debut appearance in a Chanel ad campaign alongside model and actress Cara Delevingne in 2015. Two-years into the campaign he made his runway debut as part of Chanel’s Métiers d’Art collection in Paris. Williams has also composed an original track titled “CC The World” for Chanel’s 2014 short film Reincarnation. The Chanel-Pharrell alliance goes a long way with several such creative collaborations and a ground-breaking ready-to-wear line may just be the start of something even bigger.
Pharrell is teaming up with Karl Lagerfeld to produce a complete ready-to-wear capsule collection for 2019. Set to debut exclusively in March at Chanel’s Seoul flagship store before it hits their network of boutiques worldwide on April 4.
The collection amalgamates Chanel’s signature luxe elegance with his vigorous street-style aesthetic, case in point the perky yellow hoodie he wore at the Chanel’s Cruise 2018 show. It may have been a sneak peak of sorts with the luxury house’s interlocking logo etched all over and “Coco Pharrell” visible right at the centre.
Williams announced the collaboration on the stage telling fans that it is “coming soon,” while pointing at a Chanel logo. Pricing and release date for the project have not yet been announced, but may drop alongside the cruise line in either November or December.
