Based on the X7 SUV, the one-off pickup concept was created by 12 of its vocational trainees. Although the series implementation is not planned to put the X7 pickup into production, the first pickup truck concept by BMW is based on an X7 xDrive40i but is close to 4 inches longer as well as weighing 440 pounds less.

Featuring a handcrafted teakwood cladding bed – 79 inches long with the tailgate closed and 55 inches long when opened – that fits a BMW F850GS motorcycle, the ten-month project used a donor car to modify and give the pickup a signature BMW style. Designed to give the impression of the sports yacht on land, the Tanzanite Blue metallic paintwork along with the honey finish to the wood of its bed is truly unique.

Using carbon fiber reinforced plastic for its roof, rear lid and doors, the luxury pickup was created in partnership with BMW’s Concept Vehicle Construction and Model Technology divisions. The SUV’s standard air suspension, offering two ride heights, other design features include custom taillights, rear bumper, and tailgate. The team also used 3D printing technology to design and fabricate the handgrips and the trim pieces on the bed.

The luxury pickup has a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine able to 335 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque.
