As seasoned travelers search for the new, and the pandemic calls for socially distanced vacations, glamping has soared in popularity. Glamping Hub recently reported 185% more requests to go glamping during 2020 than in 2019, thanks to the platform’s unique and luxurious offerings of yurts, cabins, safari tents, and treehouses.
Treehouses are particularly popular amongst Americans. Being suspended up in the treetops and enjoying nature’s charms, take us back to our peaceful suburban childhoods, or for city kids, dreams of family summers out of state.
Of all of Glamping Hub’s properties, this secluded treehouse owned by Guadalupe River Houses in New Braunfels, Texas, is among the most inviting. Accommodating up to eight glampers, it is fully equipped with all the modern outdoor essentials, and much more. Upscale Living visits this fun and glamorous retreat to uncover what you can expect.
A Huge Indoor Recreation Space
For those traveling with family or a group of friends, the good news is that there’s plenty of social space. There’s a living room where guests can cozy up to the fireplace for chit-chat, a game of Cards Against Humanity, or even some solo storytime on a Kindle Oasis. There’s cable TV and Wifi, so movie nights can also be held in the treehouse. The custom-made furnishings are gorgeous and the house is decorated with reclaimed Redwood – it’s the cutest thing we’ve ever seen.
A Kitchen like Home
There is a fully equipped kitchen here to whip up scrumptious meals and treats for you and your loved ones. It comes with a refrigerator, freezer, a stove, an oven, a microwave, and a coffeemaker. The host has coffee, but we recommend bringing your own teas, and if you prefer something stronger, Illy even has instant coffee packets which amazingly taste as good as the ground varieties. Brew addicts must always be covered.
Asleep in the Clouds
OK not quite in the clouds, but the bedrooms will make you feel like you’re on a cloud at least. There are two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and a TV, and another with a queen-size bed. The kids can enjoy slumber time together back out in the living room – there’s an additional fold-out queen-sized bed and two fold-out twin beds. They can lay under the replica tree which stands from floor to ceiling for a wonderfully magical ambiance.
Spa-Like Pamper Time
No need to worry about stepping outside – the treehouse has its own bathroom. Complete with toilet, sink, combination bathtub and shower, and even linens and towels. The washing experience is more like that of a boutique hotel than a muddy camping trip out in the woods. Who would have thought we’d be able to plug in a Curapox toothbrush and throw in a bath bomb up a treehouse?
A Toast in the Sun
The treehouse has its own private covered deck and plenty of outdoor space ground level. There’s plenty of seating to enjoy a few cans of Coastal Spritz on or a bottle of Avaline sparkling with your barbecue. There’s also a massive resort-style swimming pool with a spacious cabana, lounge chairs, and water see-saw all shaded by beautiful palm trees.
The property sits on 50 acres of Texas countryside with easy access to the Guadalupe River at Lake Dunlap via a 60-foot wide dock. It’s perfect for a spot of hiking. Fancy a drive? Check out Gruene Dance Hall, which has seen the A-List country greats perform. Outdoor lovers will also want to drive into town for the YETI flagship on South Congress Ave. It’s a shrine to the outdoors and at the entrance is the biggest bear you’ll ever see up close. While out, don’t forget to sample Texan BBQ.
