Lürssen has launched its most advanced yacht yet — the 114.2-metre Project Cosmos. This vessel combines bold design from Marc Newson with innovative green technology, creating a new level of sustainable luxury.

The highlight of Project Cosmos is its methanol fuel-cell propulsion system, a first for Lürssen. The system turns liquid methanol into hydrogen, which powers fuel cells to generate electricity. It can cruise 1,000 nautical miles at 7 knots without producing emissions. At anchor, it runs all onboard systems for 15 days without using generators. Freudenberg e-Power Systems developed the 1 MW system, which meets full marine safety certification.

With a steel hull and Ice Class 1D rating, Project Cosmos navigates light polar ice. She is built for global travel, from tropical seas to remote polar routes. Six decks feature panoramic lounges, glass walls, and an owner’s study with a glass-domed roof for wide ocean views.

This launch celebrates Lürssen’s 150th anniversary. CEO Peter Lürssen calls Project Cosmos “a vessel that leaves an indelible mark on our history.” Marc Newson describes the design as “a joyful, organic evolution,” with every detail built for performance and style.

Project Cosmos shows the future of yachting. Lürssen blends advanced engineering, environmental responsibility, and refined design in a single world-class yacht.
