Heesen Yachts are known to be expansive, grand, and mesmerizing; however, the latest flagship takes it to the next level. Previously Project Triton, YN 18850, Arkadia is a named is 50-meter superyacht made for an American client. She is the first of five yachts scheduled for delivery in 2021 by the Dutch shipyard. The yacht was sold in October 2020 by David Johnson of Denison Yachting, who introduced the client and worked closely with Thom Conboy of Heesen USA, and the sales team at the shipyard in Oss to seal the deal.

“We look forward to seeing Arkadia join her sister ship Omaha on our side of the ocean”, says Thom. “American customers appreciate the quality of a Dutch pedigree yacht, and the Heesen fleet is growing in North America and the Bahamas.” Arkadia is the second new 50 meter Steel Class and will be the sister ship to Omaha, which was delivered in July 2018.

A Luxury Paradise on the Sea
Arkadia is the second yacht in Heesen’s 50-meter steel displacement class, whose exterior lines by Clifford Denn combine a purposeful, muscular profile with the elegance of Dutch superyacht design. The designer drew inspiration from the lines of classic cars and the elegance of Dutch superyacht design. The sub-500 GT, a full-displacement motor yacht, features naval architecture penned by her builder, Heesen Yachts. A true bluewater motor yacht, Arkadia’s full-displacement, round-bilge hull design, with its drag-cheating bulbous bow, promises superlative cruising comfort and seakeeping. Perfectly balanced rudders ensure excellent close-quarters maneuverability, and at just under the 500 Gross Ton threshold, she is also remarkably spacious for her length. According to Heesen’s Mark Cavendish, ”Austin Healey, Old Porsche, and Alfa Spider are the cars that inspired the exterior design”.

Her interiors are penned by Reymond Langton, who has incorporated neutral tones and textures throughout the interiors.

Arkadia possesses spaces that aid the guests to experiences the best of the seas and be close to nature as possible. The superyacht can comfortably host ten guests in five luxurious suites. The owner’s stateroom is situated on the main deck fore, and the additional guest suites are located on her lower deck. The generous deck spaces will also ensure maximum enjoyment of the great outdoors, from alfresco dining to relaxing in the sun or getting close to the water in her excellent beach club. Mark Cavendish said in a statement, ”The grilles on the main deck aft fashion plates and navigation lights, for example, are only a few of the automotive design details that lend contemporary appeal. Cavendish further added, ”Clifford has made us proud by creating something refreshingly new while respecting and interpreting the Heesen family feeling”.

Arkadia is powered by twin MTU 8V4000 M63 engines that allow her to reach a top speed of 15 knots in terms of the engine. It boasts a transoceanic range of 3,800 nautical miles while cruising at 13 knots.
COVID Preventions

Delivering a superyacht during a pandemic is not a straightforward task. However, that does not lower any spirits for the Haute yachting industry. The Heesen team focuses on assisting and advising the yacht’s management company and her crew in dealing with all the regulatory and certifying authorities. The handover team also includes commissioning engineers, shipyard captains, and dedicated interior experts who work closely with the yacht’s crew. Making this transfer of knowledge as seamless as possible ensures the smooth operation of the superyacht, ready for the owner and his guests to step aboard.
