Massive yachts are always about cruising nonchalantly and reveling in their comfort plus the luxury on offer. Sunseeker has moved a bit further and has decided to replicate the feel of driving a sports car on a massive yacht. It’s all about an exciting driving experience and also involves one of the dynamic qualities of a yacht focused on performance. Sunseeker’s new 65 Sport Yacht aims to present a more dynamically inclined yacht within the 60-foot category. The design of the yacht is sleek and edgy with a rakish hull design while embracing a more open concept of space. There has been an emphasis to let natural light enter low deck spaces for an airy feeling. Back to the exterior and the design includes tinted glazing, teak, and exotic carbon fiber along with polished stainless steel. However, new feature debuts in this yacht being called ‘SkyHelm’ where owners can get twin bolstered seats placed very low for a more intimate sports car cockpit-like experience. Even the instrumentation contains racy LEDs displays within chrome dials.

The steering wheel replicates the experience of driving a sports car with its full carbon wheel and it also adds to the racy cockpit. This adds a layer of personality to this yacht and brings in an element of fun. You can drive it like a sports car while also keeping it in a raised position for ‘helming’. Further, both the seats can pivot for socializing. Other highlights include a lightweight hinged staircase made from carbon fiber and stainless steel. The lounge seating is J-shaped while the width of the cockpit is matched with a sun pad while the galley window converts into a bar with matching stools with the centrally located lounge seating are well placed. The three-cabin layout provides accommodation for up to six guests with each guest having an en-suite and an additional day-head below. Customizations can be done to link the open-plan owner’s office to the master bedroom too or even a mini galley.

The tender garage is wide with a fully flushed floor and that allows a Williams 345 Jet Tender to be launched via a sliding hydraulic bathing platform. There is even additional garage space for equipment including diving equipment or racking. Owners can also specify a fully-featured beach club with an integrated bar. This yacht also has power with a top speed reaching up to 38 knots courtesy of Volvo Penta IPS 1200 or IPS 1350 engines. Overall, the SkyHelm feature does make the Sunseeker different in terms from other yachts while its personality would endear with owners looking for a fun yachting experience.
