Glenmorangie’s latest release, The Infinita, is being hailed as the Highland distillery’s most intricate whisky to date. Built on nearly three decades of refinement, it’s the culmination of Director of Whisky Creation Dr. Bill Lumsden’s long-standing vision to elevate the distillery’s 18-Year-Old expression. Aged in American oak ex-bourbon casks and finished in Oloroso sherry, The Infinita is as complex as it is elegant, delivering a whisky that reveals something new with every sip.

“For me, The Infinita captures every element of Glenmorangie’s house style in perfect harmony,” says Lumsden. “It’s so multi-layered, it’s as if you’re tasting a new whisky each time.”

Here’s how Lumsden breaks down the layers:

18 Year Old Evening-Meal, Glenmorangie

Floral and sweet

The first of the key flavour descriptors is the aroma of the incredible floral bouquet, which reminds me of honeysuckle, lemon blossom, narcissus, and night-scented jasmine. Upon the first taste of The Infinita, you are then met with a lovely, luscious, sweet honeycomb flavor, which contributes to the soft texture of the whisky that is brought about by the long ageing in American oak ex-bourbon casks.

Rich and nutty

Finishing a portion of the whisky in Oloroso sherry casks brings about flavours of toffee and raisins, which are fairly subtle compared to its earlier edition, which was more heavily sherried. Then there is some nuttiness through the whisky, like hazelnut or leather, which creates a richness to the dram and truly represents being the older sibling of our Glenmorangie Original – older, richer, more mature but still embodying its classic flavour profile.

Herbal and menthol

There is a very distinctive herbal, minty, or mentholic top note which comes from the original Glenmorangie distillate. We craft the distillate at Glenmorangie Distillery in Scotland’s tallest stills, which allow space for taste and aroma, and create a delicate spirit from our mineral-rich water source.
