Oakley is stepping into the AI glasses game with Meta by its side. The two companies just announced Oakley Meta, a new line of “Performance AI” glasses designed for athletes, fans, and anyone who wants a bit of futuristic tech baked into their frames.

The Ray-Ban Meta Glasses

This isn’t Meta’s first try. The Ray-Ban Meta glasses, launched in 2023, turned into the world’s best-selling AI eyewear with millions sold. Now Oakley is taking the formula and giving it a sportier, performance-driven edge.

The first model out is the Oakley Meta HSTN, which comes loaded with Ultra HD 3K video recording that makes footage sharper than standard 1080p. Music and podcasts play through open-ear speakers built seamlessly into the frames, and battery life has been extended to last up to eight hours of typical use or 19 hours on standby. The charging case adds another 48 hours on the go.

Because this is Oakley, the lenses are a major part of the story. Buyers can fit the frames with Oakley’s PRIZM technology, which fine-tunes color and contrast to bring out subtle details that help athletes react quicker and perform at their best.

The Oakley Meta HSTN comes in six different frame and lens combinations, all prescription-ready, ranging from sleek black with polarized lenses to color-shifting Transitions options. There’s also a limited-edition version celebrating Oakley’s 50th anniversary, featuring gold accents with 24K PRIZM Polar lenses. That one will cost $499, while the rest of the collection starts at $399.

The limited edition goes up for preorder on July 11, with the broader collection landing later this summer in the US, Canada, Europe, and other markets. More countries, including Mexico, India, and the UAE, will follow later this year.

To launch the glasses, Oakley and Meta are rolling out a global campaign starring Patrick Mahomes and Kylian Mbappé. The glasses will also make appearances at major sporting events like Fanatics Fest and UFC International Fight Week.

For Oakley, the move builds on a 50-year legacy of pushing performance innovation. For Meta, it’s another shot at making AI glasses mainstream, following the unexpected success of Ray-Ban Meta. Together, they’re betting athletes and fans are ready to wear the future right on their faces.
