Louis XIII has long represented the pinnacle of French cognac, a spirit shaped by time, craftsmanship, and a devotion to heritage. With the opening of its new boutique at Beijing SKP, the house introduces an immersive retail experience that blends architecture, storytelling, and sensory design, bringing the world of rare cognac into one of the globe’s most prestigious luxury destinations.
Designed by RDAI, the Paris-based architecture and design studio known for shaping iconic Hermès flagships and Elie Saab spaces, the boutique reflects a seamless fusion of tradition and innovation. Located within Beijing SKP, a seven-floor temple to fashion and lifestyle, the space positions Louis XIII at the heart of a retail environment synonymous with refinement and global influence.
Inside, the boutique unfolds as a carefully choreographed journey through the elements that define Louis XIII. Limestone tones evoke the chalky terroir from which the eaux-de-vie originate, while copper surfaces reference the distillation stills that shape the spirit’s character. Oak accents recall the centuries-old casks used in maturation, and glass and crystal details echo the sculptural decanters — including the innovation seen in the LOUIS XIII smart decanter — that have become synonymous with the house. The result is a setting that feels both intimate and theatrical, inviting visitors to slow down and experience the passage of time through design.
At the center of the space stands the Century Wheel, a luminous installation that brings the story of Louis XIII to life. As guests approach, light travels across ten decades, symbolizing the century-long maturation process that defines the cognac. Around the boutique, 1,200 glass bricks glow in warm amber hues, visually echoing the depth and color of the spirit itself. The installation transforms the boutique into more than a retail space; it becomes a sensory narrative that celebrates patience, craftsmanship, and legacy.
Beyond the architecture, the boutique offers a curated program of tastings, food pairings, and exclusive editions available only within the Beijing SKP location. Clients are invited to explore the nuances of Louis XIII cognac through guided experiences that highlight both the artistry of the blend and the culture surrounding fine cognac. Special releases and rare expressions further reinforce the boutique’s role as a destination for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
“Louis XIII is a French luxury brand rooted in history and a fascinating heritage,” said Mr. Zhiwei Luo, General Manager of SKP. “We are delighted to welcome it to Beijing SKP to launch this major landmark in its history and legend.”
The opening signals a new chapter for the house — one that places immersive retail and experiential storytelling at the center of its global presence. As luxury continues to evolve toward more personal and sensory encounters, the Beijing boutique suggests how heritage brands can reinterpret tradition for a modern audience. More than a store, it stands as an invitation to experience Louis XIII through design, atmosphere, and the quiet luxury of time itself.
