Explorer yachts have become one of the most compelling segments of modern yacht design, combining long-range capability with the comfort expected from today’s luxury vessels. Now, Turkish shipyard Numarine is preparing to unveil the latest evolution of that concept.

The builder will present its new 40MXP explorer yacht, named MITAN, at the Palm Beach International Boat Show from March 25 to 29, where the vessel will make its global debut.

Measuring 40 meters (131 feet), the yacht becomes the new flagship of Numarine’s popular XP Series. The model represents a natural progression from the successful 37XP while introducing a stronger emphasis on open-air living and Mediterranean-style cruising.

The designation MXP, short for Mediterranean Explorer, reflects that philosophy. While the yacht retains the rugged long-range DNA that defines the XP line, its layout places greater focus on social spaces and outdoor enjoyment, an approach increasingly seen in innovative yacht concepts such as the Maybach Ocean Club.

MITAN is the second yacht constructed on the 40MXP platform and was commissioned by an owner who prioritized family living and shared experiences on board. As a result, the yacht devotes significant attention to exterior decks designed for entertaining and relaxation.

The yacht’s naval architecture was developed by Italian designer Umberto Tagliavini, while exterior styling comes from Can Yalman, whose work blends contemporary lines with the purposeful presence expected of an explorer yacht.

Accommodation is arranged for up to 12 guests across six staterooms, including a full-beam master suite on the main deck. Two additional spaces can be customized depending on the owner’s needs, offering flexibility for family use or guest arrangements.

True to the XP Series’ explorer credentials, the yacht delivers serious range. An optimized hull form allows the vessel to travel approximately 6,000 nautical miles at 8 knots, making transoceanic cruising well within reach.

Power comes from twin MAN 800-horsepower engines, with an optional upgrade to twin MAN 900-hp units. To enhance onboard comfort during extended voyages, the yacht also incorporates advanced noise and vibration reduction technology developed in partnership with Silent Line.

With its balance of expedition capability and Mediterranean lifestyle design, the Numarine 40MXP aims to bridge two worlds: the rugged performance of an explorer yacht and the relaxed elegance of a summer cruiser, an approach that reflects the same spirit of innovation seen in yachts like the Khalilah carbon-fiber superyacht.

Visitors to the Palm Beach International Boat Show will be among the first to see the new flagship up close when it makes its official debut later this month.
