The quickest Cadillac is propelled by a pair of electric motors rather than a thumping great V8. Meet the new Cadillac Lyriq V which packs in 615 hp and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque thanks to its dual motor all-wheel drive powertrain. The new electric Caddy is part of the new electric V-Series in terms of performance but is laced with luxury in a typical Cadillac way. All this power means the Lyriq V will do 0-60 in just 3.3 seconds with Velocity Max. Production starts in early 2025 at General Motors’ Spring Hill Manufacturing plant in Tennessee this model is marked out via the subtle upgrades while there is also a dose of carbon fiber accents.

Other changes also include 22-inch wheels with a dark sport finish and an etched V-Series logo come with a choice of standard summer or available all-season tires. Inside, it is a proper luxury EV with a panoramic fixed glass roof, a 23-speaker AKG9 Studio Audio System with Dolby Atmos, and a large 33-inch-diagonal advanced LED display. The Lyriq-V additionally gets an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display.

The steering wheel also comes with a V-Mode button, a sport rim with sculpted hand grips, and an aluminum Regen on Demand paddle. This big Cadillac SUV is priced at $79,990 but knowing that it even beats its gasoline-powered sibling, the CT5-V Blackwing, the performance seems to justify the V badge. Plus, Cadillac has even simulated an engine roar with the sound which, needless to say, is fake but gives buyers a performance car driving experience.

With 285 miles of range, the Lyriq V aims to compete with a variety of fast EVs and would kickstart a new line-up of fast electric SUVs. Cadillac also claims to have changed the suspension to meet the new spike in performance and it would not just be quick in a straight line either with a focus on handling- as much as a massive Cadillac SUV can be. Cadillac seems to shake off its luxury yacht image and turn to bring some performance into the fold as it also digs deeper into the world of electrification. The luxury brand aims to attract younger and sportier buyers with its new EVs while the sporty V series with an electrified powertrain is just the start of things to come.
