With over 50 years building some of the world’s best and most luxurious racing or performance luxury yachts, McConaghy introduces the Adastra 140-foot, designed by John Shuttleworth. Launched in and built-in McConaghy’S Zhuhai Facility in 2012, the long-range ocean voyaging yacht, winner of The Worlds Superyacht Awards Winner in 2013, is up for sale again for $12 million.
The futuristic-looking spaceship on the water was built for a sophisticated ocean voyaging family providing a level of craft and style unforeseen prior. Following numerous trips across the Atlantic and many other voyages, the custom-built low fuel-consumption wave-piercing-hulled superyacht is ready for its next owner.
Adastra features a 16-meter beam, 1.12-meter draft, and displacement of 49 tons while able to hold nine guests with five to six crew members on board. Powered by a 1,150 hp Caterpillar C18 straight-six turbo diesel and a backup pair of 110 hp Yanmar diesel engines, it has a max speed of 22 knots and a cruising speed between 16 and 17 knots. At cruising speed, the luxury vessel is able to cover 4,000 miles.
Created for both strength and weight reduction – Superstructure is carbon fiber with Nomex honeycomb core, the hull is Glass/Kevlar foam sandwich and the interior is light-weight oak cabinetry using honeycomb panels – it also provides the level of sophistication and comfort expected for a yacht of this class.
Its beam creates a spacious saloon on the main deck through a panoramic window with a lounge, dining table and its navigation system. To access the large sunbed on the foredeck, the forward-facing doors allows for max relaxation on the sea. On the aft deck, the dining area is to starboard while a sofa and bar to port.
The aft section also houses the full-width owner’s suite designed by Hong Kong-based interior designers Jepsen Design. Further design in the interior of this luxury yacht includes curved windows and custom built-in furniture to match the curved ceilings. Light-colored wood is matched perfectly with the white furniture and ceilings, the result of more than five years of design with the previous owners
Prospective buyers will be able to get a glimpse of this one-of-a-kind trimaran on July 25 and 26 at Fort Lauderdale’s Seahaven Marina. For more information click here.
