There is no denying the fact that the pandemic affected everyone and changed our daily routines almost completely. You can’t see your loved ones and attend fun gatherings, and that’s not even the worst of it. Yet, it’s still hard not being able to spend some quality time and enjoy yourself…or is it? There are plenty of ways in which you can leave your home, have a good time, and not put yourself and others at risk. Here are 4 adventurous activities you can try during the pandemic and stay safe while you are at it!
1. Try Watersports
Since a lot of sports are strictly tied to teams and playing with other people, it’s not an ideal activity if you want to keep your distance, but there is always an exception like watersports! To put it simply, a lot of watersports are pretty independent and rely solely on one person, like surfing or swimming. You can even take it one step further by getting a canoe or a kayak and going to a nearby lake for a dive. This is a great opportunity to spend time outside, with friends, by doing something fun that doesn’t lead to health risks and spreading the virus!
2. Explore the Woods
Going to the gym and running on treadmills is overrated anyway; it’s always better to go hiking somewhere in nature – with that being said, why don’t you take that fact to a whole another level! A great way to getaways as far as possible from the crowded cities is by going to the nearest forest and getting lost in it…but not literally! While this might sound terrifying, as long as you are well prepared to explore woods and follow the path, there is not much that can go wrong! You can make a list of things you discover – like a little journal, or even take pictures of interesting trees you come across…not to mention all the bugs and creatures you’ll totally see on your path!
3. Train for a Marathon
Running a marathon either interests you or repulse you – there is no in-between! With this being said, it’s truly not for everyone, only those who truly want to test their physical and mental strength! But that doesn’t mean you can’t try to at least prepare for a marathon instead. This is a great excuse to go outside and practice, make it your daily routine, something to look forward to each week! Not only is it a good excuse to be healthy and get fit, but it also prevents you from seeing other people – there are probably not a lot of people running around now!
Start small, depending on your age and physical abilities; you don’t even have to run – hike instead, but make it your goal to increase the distance each time you go out! You can even try to do this with a loved one and see your progress overtime – at the end of the day, it’s exciting to even imagine running a marathon one day, but practicing is good enough!
4. Go Camping
If you are sick and tired of being stuck inside four walls, with nothing to do, yet you don’t want to travel and expose yourself to other people-camping might be a thing for you! With that being said, camping is a video term, it doesn’t necessarily mean going to the mountain and sleeping under the stars unless that’s what you want to do, but it can be a bit modified to fit your needs. You can totally rent an RV and go on a road – this will not only give you a great opportunity to see the countryside or the wilderness without the need to take public transport.
RV is also great since they act as a moveable hotel – so you can cook, clean, and sleep in it on the road, instead of risking your health by going to restaurants and staying in hotels. On the other hand, you can always grab a sleeping bag and a tent and head outside for some old fashion camping with your loved ones!
At the end of the day, there is so much you can do outside that doesn’t revolve around other people, but that doesn’t mean you should dismiss them – some of them are worth the try! Use this time to focus on yourself and try something new and adventurous; even if you are not an outdoorsy person, this will at least make you leave your home and enjoy something exciting for a bit! As long as you stay safe and practice social distancing, you’ll be totally fine!
