A Quick Guide to the Different Types of Juicers

Juicing is a healthy and fun habit, especially when you’re just starting. However, it may be hard to decide on what kind of juicer would best suit your needs. Choosing the wrong type could cause inconvenience, which is definitely not the best way to start your juicing experience. There are many things to consider before buying. Here is a quick guide on how to choose the best juicer for you.

Consider Your Needs

Before we get into what type of juicers there are, we would like to point out what categories you need to consider before deciding on the type and the model. They differ in a few categories, like their size, price, use, and how much storage space you have available.

Not all juicers offer the same functions, and some can’t process all of the types of fruits and vegetables. Some can be harder to handle but will be able to process harder foods, while others are easier to use and clean but otherwise have limited functions. You need to answer these questions before you even think about the model.

Masticating Juicers

This type of juicer needs a little bit more time to squeeze out the juice but is one of the best home-used juicers on the market. They are also known as cold press juicers because they don’t heat the food that is being processed. Because of this feature, the juice is full of all of the nutrients from fruits and vegetables, like vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

It can process harder foods and leaves behind little to no waste. They are usually affordable and are made from stainless steel. This type of juicer is medium-sized, so it doesn’t require much storage space. It is one of the most recommended types of juicers, especially for beginners.

Manual Press Juicers

Manual press juicers are harder to handle because you need to use mechanical force to squeeze out the juice. They are hand-held, which means that you need to press down hard to get maximum juice. They are easy to clean and are by far the cheapest option. If you decide on buying a manual press juicer, you need to check if it can be used only for specific fruits and vegetables. The most common are citrus juicers. As we previously mentioned, they offer limited options, so avoid spending money on them if you need them for harder foods, leafy greens, or crunchy vegetables.

Centrifugal Juicers

Centrifugal juicers have the opposite use to manual press juicers. They are great for harder vegetables, like carrots and cucumbers. However, they are not the best choice if you like to have a mix with leafy greens. They come with different parts, which means that they are easy to clean. It is one of the quickest juicers out there. You will get freshly squeezed product in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. One of the biggest disadvantages is that they produce a lot of foam. The problem is that the foam can cause quicker oxidization of the juice. The price of these juicers varies depending on their size and the options they offer.

Twin-Gear Juicers

You can also find these juicers under the names triturating or double auger juicers. Like cold press juicers, they are slow, but this means that the heat build-up is minuscule. You will be able to extract the healthiest juices. They give you more control over the juicing process because you can choose the pressure of squeezing. They are great for processing all kinds of foods, especially leafy greens. The biggest problem with twin-gear juicers is that they are quite complicated to clean because they come with many different parts. They vary in size, but they are horizontal, which means they won’t take up much space.

Hydraulic Press Juicers

Hydraulic press juicers are not the best option for at-home juicing, but they are worth the mention. They are the most expensive of them all. Also, they require you to spend more money on linen bags that are necessary for their function. However, they will squeeze out the highest quality juice because there will be little to no oxidation during the whole process. They are extremely large, so if you want to invest in one, you will need to free-up a lot of space in your kitchen.

With the right juicer, you will be able to enjoy delicious and healthy juice whenever you want. Set your budget, estimate the storage space, and decide on your favorite type of juice before choosing. They will be the greatest tool you have in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
