Oftentimes, we see people making comparisons between online casinos and physical casinos in locations like Las Vegas and Macau. One of the most frequent arguments is that online casinos can never hope to replicate the luxury of Las Vegas casinos.
We want to explore if this interesting argument is true. Also, we want to see if it’s even necessary, or if instead, these two types of gaming entertainment serve two very different purposes, and the comparison isn’t warranted. So, read on to find out how online casinos shape up to the glitz and glam of Sin City.
Las Vegas casinos – what online casinos are up against
Let’s first take a look at what Las Vegas casinos offer, so we know how online casinos have to shape up. Vegas casinos (and indeed casinos in other popular locations like Atlantic City and Macau) are as much about the lifestyle and luxury as they are the gaming.
Sure, you can splash your cash and play blackjack, roulette, and slots at these venues, but that’s only part of the experience. From our own trips to Vegas, we know that casinos in Sin City offer so much more – some of them are more like mini-cities and encompass everything from gambling and restaurants to hotel facilities and shopping.
Incredible architecture
One thing that is immediately notable about Vegas casinos is the architecture. This is something online casinos simply cannot replicate. Sure, a casino’s website can be designed with a modern, stylish interface, but it’s never going to prompt the same awe and amazement as a Vegas casino.
Just look at the architecture of casinos like The Venetian, Paris, Caesars Palace, and the Bellagio. They are incredible! Indeed, many people simply enjoy walking down the Strip to goggle at the incredible designs of these buildings.
We’ve taken the lift up to the top of the model Eiffel Tower in the Paris Casino and watched the fountain displays at the Bellagio – the casino architecture and features in Las Vegas are sublime. This extends to the exteriors too, and many of the casinos like Caesars Palace have interiors that make them look like ornate cathedrals or actual palaces!
Amazing facilities
Let’s face it, the casinos in Vegas aren’t just casinos – they are mini-cities in their own right. Each casino has a variety of restaurants, bars, hotel amenities, and more. The actual casino experience is just part of what they offer. You only have to look at Caesars Palace, where we stayed, as an example.
Caesars Palace has thousands of hotel suites, several swimming pools, at least five high-quality restaurants, and areas for shows and concerts. Not only that, but it has an entire shopping mall with several floors! We aren’t just talking about a dinky mall with a few shops – the mall at Caesars is huge and you could spend an entire day exploring it.
An online casino just cannot provide the same variety of facilities and entertainment as the physical casinos in Las Vegas. It’s just not possible due to how online technology works.
Fantastic nightlife
Nighttime is when Vegas comes alive – just walk down the strip and you will see some sights! However, this extends to the casinos too. Most casinos have stages and venues where live entertainment happens nightly. This could be music concerts, magic shows, burlesque shows, and more.
All of the casinos also have a variety of bars, restaurants, and clubs where you can happily dance and drink the night away, and dine on some world-class cuisine. For example, Caesars has Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen restaurant. Set meals at this world-class venue start from $150 per person and the food is truly out of this world!
Again, an online casino simply can’t compete with this real-world entertainment and nightlife. The Vegas nightlife experience is like no other, and technology is such that online casinos can never come close to this.
Intense gaming action
We haven’t forgotten about the actual casino gaming experience! This is one area in which online casinos can compete. In Vegas casinos, you have sprawling casino floors packed with blackjack and roulette tables, and rows of video slots. The noise, excitement, and intense action are incredible, especially when the casino is busy and there are crowds of people surrounding the tables.
Playing at a blackjack table in Vegas is quite the experience – the pressure and excitement are sky-high. Online casinos do a pretty good job of recreating this experience, though – even more so with the advancement of live dealer games where you get to interact with a real human dealer and watch a real casino table via a live streaming feed.
How do online casinos compare?
Looking through the sites listed on https://www.casinotopsonline.com/top-10-online-casinos, we can immediately see the limitations of the casinos that you can find on this list – and other online casinos. Simply put, online casinos are built very differently, and by their nature, they prioritize fun and entertainment as opposed to luxury and glamour. Online casinos offer thousands of games that you can enjoy from the comfort of your home.
They aren’t meant to make you feel like a superstar! The only way that online casinos could hope to replicate the Las Vegas experience is by implementing VR or AR. Imagine putting on your VR headset walking through a virtual casino and sitting at a virtual blackjack table.
This would allow you to experience the glitz and glam of physical casinos. The platforms could create digital casino environments, or perhaps they could eventually use AR technology so you can explore real-life casinos like Caesars Palace and Flamingo in Las Vegas.
Until such technology is in use, you will never get the same experience looking at your smartphone or PC monitor as you can when walking through an epic Vegas casino such as MGM Grand, Paris, or Treasure Island. They are two very different mediums.
The only area where online casinos compare (and indeed surpass Vegas casinos), is the gaming entertainment. Physical casinos have limited floor space for table games and slots. In contrast, online casinos typically have thousands of games and offer way more choices.
Online casinos cannot truly compare with the Vegas experience
Online casinos have some benefits and a heap of advantages compared to physical Vegas casinos. These mainly include game selection, availability of bonuses and promotions, and ease of access. They can also easily recreate the excitement of casino games, especially with the thriving development of live dealer games.
However, if you want the Vegas casino experience, you’ll need to go to Sin City yourself! There are some things that online casinos simply can’t recreate – they can’t compete with the lavish architecture and decadent interiors of casinos like Caesars Palace and the Bellagio, nor can they provide the same degree of entertainment value that Vegas casinos can with their shows, nightlife, shops, and restaurants.
We don’t see these two different takes on online casinos as either/or, though. Instead, they serve very different purposes. Online casinos can be accessed at any time and are great for entertainment at home or in your downtime. In contrast, Vegas casinos are great if you want a holiday or a fun weekend break – the two are not mutually exclusive.
