When we think of a day at the spa, we often think of luxury and a day of being pampered. What we should realize is that a day at the spa is actually essential for our mental and physical well being. It is a great way to destress and rejuvenate to take on a stress-filled life.
Doctors in Germany will prescribe a weekend at the baths in Baden Baden for everybody, from factory workers to executives who are feeling burnout. It doesn’t matter what class you are in economically; a day at the spa is something everybody needs.
So, when you can’t get to the spa, what can you do? You can bring the spa to you and create a spa experience at home.
In this article, I will go over several ways that you can achieve the same results without leaving the house.
1 – Use aromatherapy
One of the most fundamental elements of a spa is the use of scents to elicit relaxation. As soon as you walk in, the scent of lavender, for example, immediately sets the tone and puts your brain into relaxation mode.
There are several ways to achieve this effect. In the bedroom and living room, you can use electronic diffusers that will mist the area with the scent of whichever essential oil you put in the chamber.
For relaxing, scents like lavender, chamomile, and valerian are wonderful and smell very nice as well. You can even use a diffuser bracelet for these scents when you are out of the house to keep the spa treatment going while out and about.
In the bathroom, you should be using the steam of a hot bath or shower to your advantage and add some scents like eucalyptus oil to open up the airways and encourage deep breathing. The menthol works great with steam.
2 – Schedule a massage
Another essential of a day at the spa is a relaxing massage. Many masseuse and masseuses will come to your home or office with a massage table and give you the whole treatment in the comfort of your home.
You can ask your partner to give you a rub down, but having a professional takes things to another level. They will come with the perfect table that is the right height and allows your head to stay aligned with your spine for extra comfort. Plus, they have the right oils and the expertise to know how to dissolve those knots in your muscles.
3 – Try a body scrub
Exfoliating will strip away your dead skin and reveal the new, soft baby skin underneath. When you take a bath and use some scrubs with bits of sand or microbeads, you can do this yourself to great effect.
When you do the whole routine from the aromatherapy to the massage to the body scrub, you will feel reborn and ready to tackle everything the world is going to throw your way.
