The last year has been rough on everyone as we all do our best to keep ourselves and our families safe. Everything was disrupted by the pandemic, including the way many of us shop, our employment, and, not to mention, vacations. Many countries are limiting the foreigners they are allowing to enter in an attempt to slow the spread of the virus. That means your luxurious European trip might be on the back burner for now, but it doesn’t mean you have to give up on having fun.
Now that travel has been disrupted; many people are taking this time to rediscover the US and its beautiful landscapes. Did you know there are luxurious mountain resorts and cabins all over the country that will make you feel like you’re in another world?
One of the perks of not traveling overseas this time around is that you can also use some of the funds you set aside for that trip to redecorate. You can hire your decorator to redo your home while you’re gone. Give them some direction, then let them choose some new fabrics, accessories, and handle the storage container rental where your things will be stored. Meanwhile, you can live it up in one of the resorts or sweet cabin rentals in one of the places below.
Skiing in Colorado
Do you love skiing in the Swiss Alps every year? Don’t worry; Colorado will satisfy your craving to hit the slopes. The town of Vail is beautiful and quaint, with a lot of trendy restaurants and sites. If you love the outdoors, it’s the perfect place for a trip while your house is in chaos.
The Vail Ski Resort is a great place to stay while you are there. It’s the third-largest single-mountain ski resort in the country, with over 5,200 acres. There are a number of luxury hotels in the area, but one of the best is The Arrabelle at Vail Square. It offers everything you want, including an onsite spa, and it’s just stepping away from the mountain. You can be off and on the slopes in no time.
Hiking in North Carolina
If you love hiking, then you definitely need to take a trip to the Blue Ridge mountains in North Carolina. The mountain range is part of the larger Appalachian Mountains and extends from Northern Georgis through Southern Pennsylvania.
If you look out over the vista, it does, in fact, appear blue. That’s because of dust particles, water vapor, and eucalyptus oil from the trees hitting the light and appearing blue.
One of the most famous and luxurious places to stay in is the Biltmore Inn. Bed and breakfast are located in Asheville, North Carolina, near the Biltmore Mansion, built by George Vanderbilt in the late 1800s. The Inn offers a four-star experience, including top-notch suites, laundry, dry-cleaning services, a spa, and many other amenities.
When you aren’t relaxing at the Inn, explore the area around Asheville. The Blue Ridge Mountains are sometimes called the “Land of Waterfalls” for the hundreds of falls in the area. Dozens of them are in the Biltmore area. You can also drive about 40 minutes and find yourself at the famous Chimney Rock State Park. Near the park is the town of Lake Lure, where many scenes from the iconic “Dirty Dancing” were filmed. Have fun exploring!
Get Away and Recharge
Those are just two of the incredible mountain vacations to be had. There are dozens of others across the country as well. You don’t have to take a trip around the world to unwind in luxury — look out your own backdoor.
