If you are considering buying a racehorse one day to enjoy some of the thrills that come with ownership in the sport, a big decision you will have to make after completing your purchase is which trainer to send your horse to.
Ditcheat-based trainer Paul Nicholls has been one of the most successful in the sport for the last two decades. He is trusted by many owners in the sport to get the most out of their horses. The British trainer has won many of the leading races in the sport, including the Cheltenham Gold Cup (four times) and Grand National.
Paul Nicholls Bidding For 15th Title
Nicholls has world-class facilities at his stable to support his racehorses during their careers. The 62-year-old is bidding for a record-extending 15th Trainers’ Championship title this season. He is 3/1 in the bet on horse racing market to lift the trophy again at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

One of the horses expected to feature in the horse racing tips and predictions for many of the leading races this season is Bravemansgame. Nicholls’ chaser will run in the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day again. He prevailed in that race in 2022, while he also finished runner-up in 2023. A big performance again at Kempton will enhance his reputation ahead of a shot at the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.
Another major target for Nicholls this season is the Grand National at Aintree. The race has ÂŁ1 million in prize money on offer, so it is a lucrative contest. Nicholls, who won the race in 2012, will be looking to establish in the early stages of the season which of his horses will feature in the race. His best shot at winning the 2025 renewal may come with Stay Away Fay.

Midlands-based trainer Dan Skelton leads the early standings in the 2024/25 Trainers’ Championship. He has already passed the £1 million prize money mark for the season in what has been his best start to a campaign.
Skelton was once Nicholls’ assistant trainer but is now going it alone. He was second in the Trainers’ Championship last season behind Willie Mullins, but with an even stronger team this time, he has a great chance of a maiden success.
With the early accomplishments Skelton has had as a trainer, it is easy to see why so many horse racing owners are putting their trust in his operation.
Nicky Henderson Still a Leading Player
As a six-time Champion Trainer and a man who has had 73 winners at the Cheltenham Festival, Nicky Henderson is one of the greatest horse racing trainers of all time. Even at 74, he retains all the enthusiasm he has always had for training racehorses.
Henderson currently has one of the most exciting horses in training in Constitution Hill. The unbeaten horse has been tipped to establish himself as the greatest hurdler in history before he retires. He won the Champion Hurdle in 2023 but was ruled out of the same race in 2024 due to injury. The Seven Barrows trainer will be hoping his horse can regain his crown next March.
Good luck if you do decide to buy a racehorse. You are sure to have a lot of fun with your horse, on and off the track.
