The alpine breezes of Piemonte, the scent of raw wool drifting through a working mill, vineyards warmed by afternoon sun, the polished leather of a vintage automobile, and the faint trace of ink on paper. With its latest fragrance launch, Zegna transforms these sensory fragments into a deeply personal olfactory narrative.
The new Mémoire Collection—a suite of six fragrances created by master perfumers Dominique Ropion, Fabrice Pellegrin, and Quentin Bisch—draws inspiration from the life and landscape of founder Ermenegildo Zegna. Each scent reflects a moment in the industrialist’s life, unfolding like chapters in a story that begins in the wool mills of Trivero and winds through the forests and mountain roads surrounding his beloved Oasi Zegna.

Presented in gradient glass flacons topped with ashwood caps, the fragrances evoke both modern design and the tactile materials central to Zegna’s heritage.
One of the collection’s most evocative scents, Il Calamaio—“The Inkwell”—imagines the founder seated in his office, contemplating the future of the wool mill first opened by his father, Angelo Zegna. Perfumer Dominique Ropion envisioned the subtle aromas that might have lingered in that room: ink on paper, worn leather, and the warmth of amber accented by tobacco and oud.

The fragrance Il Lanificio, or “The Wool Mill,” draws directly from Fabrice Pellegrin’s visit to the historic factory. The perfumer recalls being struck by the comforting sweetness of wool and wood in the air—an atmosphere that ultimately inspired the scent’s Vanilla Suede composition.

Another chapter unfolds with A Trivero, where Quentin Bisch imagines Zegna driving his cherished Lancia Aurelia through the hills surrounding the town. The fragrance captures the sensation of movement—engine heat, leather, and alpine air—translating the thrill of speed into scent.
Nature takes center stage in Il Sottobosco, or “The Undergrowth,” which reflects the forested terrain of Oasi Zegna. Damp leaves, resinous pine needles, and earthy balsamic notes evoke the quiet intensity of the woodland landscape that the founder himself helped restore through large-scale reforestation initiatives beginning in the 1930s.
That commitment to the land eventually extended to the creation of the scenic Panoramica Zegna Road, built in 1938 to connect the mountain communities and showcase the region’s extraordinary beauty.

The fragrance La Panoramica, also created by Ropion, pays tribute to that winding road. Pine needle and lavender create a fresh aromatic opening, while vetiver introduces warmth and depth, evoking the sensation of traveling through mountain air warmed by sunlight.

The collection concludes with Saga del Piemonte, a fragrance that reflects the close of the founder’s working day. Cedarwood Virginia anchors the composition, accompanied by notes of cherry, coffee, and ratafia—the sweet dessert wine Ermenegildo Zegna was said to enjoy in the evening.
Together, the Mémoire Collection becomes something more than a fragrance line. It is an olfactory portrait of a man, a landscape, and the rhythms of daily life that shaped one of Italy’s most influential luxury houses.
Through scent, Zegna reconstructs a world—distilling the rituals, places, and inspirations that defined the legacy of its founder.
