Equinox is opening a luxury hotel in Hudson Yards for the fitness buff who likes to travel

Founded in 1991, Equinox has transformed the fitness industry becoming the premier luxury fitness company with gyms across the USA along with locations in Vancouver and London. The New York-based brand has invigorated the fitness category building gyms which feature high-end amenities, top-tier personal training along with bold and edgy marketing campaigns. This June, the brand is pioneering yet a new space, building its first hospitality experience in Manhattan’s new Hudson Yards development, The Equinox Hotel.

This new development combines a new hotel and gym which promises to blend “the science of fitness [and] the art of travel” at 35 Hudson Yards. Its first hotel (rooms start at $700/night) is in a 72-story tower with interior spaces by David Rockwell/Rockwell Group and exterior spaces by Ken Smith Workshop and Rockwell Group. The hotel itself will feature 212 rooms, including 48 suites, as well as a Joyce Wang-designed Equinox Fitness Club and Spa.

Each room is designed for optimal sleep with dark features along with total soundproofing and a total-blackout window system. Following a belief that sleep is everything, the company has put the focus on the beds which use CocoMat all-natural fiber mattresses and two separate duvets that enable temperature regulation.

The club and hotel are seamlessly connected allowing the use of the gym, spa, and restaurant.

Bolstering the high-performance lifestyle for the fitness buff who likes to travel is their 60,000-square foot Equinox Fitness Club, as well as E by Equinox, the brand’s most personalized portfolio offering. Hotel guests become Equinox Fitness Clubs members for the duration of their stay and have access to the comprehensive experience which includes fitness classes, 25-yard indoor saltwater pool, expansive spa, hot and cold plunge pools, outdoor leisure pool and terrace with a culinary concept from renowned restaurateur, Stephen Starr.

Guests can choose to dine at the restaurant and bar by James Beard Award-winning restaurateur Stephen Starr. With an 8,000 square-foot outdoor terrace with views over Manhattan and the Hudson River, the restaurant will mirror the ambitious hotel and gym meeting the discerning travelers’ pallets with ingredient-driven menus in a social space.
