Offering a secluded haven of low-key luxury, The Roundtree, Amagansett, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, blends classic seaside community charm with modern comforts nestled in a serene hamlet of the stylish and sophisticated Hamptons. Just a short ride from New York City, guests can take the Hampton Jitney, a luxurious bus service that drops you off right in front of the Roundtree and ready to embark upon an inspired spring getaway, an ideal time to visit before the start of the bustling summer season.
The idyllic escape welcomes travelers seeking to unwind and yet immerse themselves in the vibrant Main Street shopping scene, world-class dining, inspired outdoor explorations, and more. Set on two lush acres, the property combines luxury travel with thoughtful elements of locality and feelings of home across its 15 accommodations which include standalone cottages, a combination of rooms and suites set in a fully restored 100-year-old historic barn, and a private home.
Upon entry through the tree-lined street, The Roundtree’s two sweeping acres welcome guests to a setting of serene sophistication guaranteed to create beautiful moments and memories. The heart of the property is a sprawling Great Lawn that provides a stage for guests to lounge, play lawn games, cozy up to a welcoming firepit in the evening, or just bask in the tranquility of the celebrated beach destination.
“One of the features that make The Roundtree so special is its expansive lawn and the surrounding farmlands, which offer our guests such a peaceful and tranquil environment. I want guests to feel like this is their own backyard,” says owner and curator Sylvia Wong. “We are located right on the main street, close to the wonderful local shops and restaurants and within a short walk or bike ride from miles of beautiful white sand beaches.”
Guests can unwind in inviting accommodations, complete with plush bedding, and cozy fireplaces, and enjoy countless personal touches, welcoming amenities, and thoughtful elements of locality and feelings of home. The Beach House is The Roundtree’s premier and largest accommodation, located just a short five-minute drive from the hotel’s main entrance. It was built in the 1960s by East Hampton architect Alfred Scheffer and was also once home to legendary playwright Neil Simon.
Offering a quiet, laid-back, yet sophisticated Hamptons escape, The Roundtree welcomes guests to start their mornings with a cup of coffee in the garden (which twinkles at night with its string lights), framed by a canopy of trees and lush grounds. Throughout the stay, sweet surprises abound, from complimentary afternoon tea, snacks, and cookies to ice cream happy hours. After a quick hammock power nap or light-hearted swinging under the branches of their big leafy trees, it’s time to discover all there is to enjoy within easy reach of The Roundtree.
Days can be as free or full as desired. A dedicated experience manager is on hand to curate bespoke activities and exclusive-access moments in and around town. Whether visiting the famous Montauk Lighthouse at Montauk Point State Park, touring the many local wineries in the area, or shopping in style along East Hampton’s Main Street, guests will enjoy discovering all there is to do and see. Furthermore, the Roundtree’s complimentary inventory of bikes will make getting around easy; and a full day of exploration is closed out by gathering around a heartwarming firepit for s’mores and stargazing.
“The Hamptons tend to be known for glitz and glamour, but Amagansett seems to attract a more low-key crowd that is looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the destination and surrounding area,” says Wong. “And we believe that The Roundtree is the perfect complement to this.”
