Attended by 6,000 people from around the world, The Quail, an automotive lifestyle event welcoming icons was assembled on the scenic fairways of Quail Lodge & Golf Club for the show’s culminating awards ceremony.
This year’s event was headlined by three special classes. The first of these, “100 Years of Bentley Motors,” paid tribute to legendary vehicles from throughout Bentley’s history including the North American debut of the EXP 100 GT concept car and the Flying Spur sedan. The second special class, “The 25th Anniversary of the McLaren F1,” also celebrated a historic milestone. In this case, a quarter-century of the legendary McLaren supercar was celebrated with a selection of standout models including a one-of-10 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail. Additionally, the “A Tribute to the Electric Car Movement” special class showcased unique electric cars throughout history including a unique 1965 Volkswagen Beetle Zelectric Sedan electric car prototype.
Throughout the show, guests enjoyed in-depth discussions with industry leaders during the Fireside Chat panel series. Headliners included two-time Monaco Grand Prix winner and 2015 FIA World Endurance Champion Mark Webber moderated by Philip Kadoorie and automotive influencer, and social media entertainer Alex Hirschi, also known as Supercar Blondie moderated by automotive journalist Hannah Elliott.
The event played host to more than 11 major vehicle debuts and anniversary celebrations from revered manufacturers and sponsors including Lotus Cars, Bugatti, Aston Martin, Bentley Motors, Acura, Pagani Automobili, Singer Vehicle Design, and Drako Motors. In addition, nine manufacturers hosted press conferences at the event to announce new products or company news including Lotus Cars, Rolls-Royce Motorcars, Acura, Bentley Motors, Automobili Lamborghini, Bugatti, SSC North America, and Drako Motors.
“Our 17th annual event has been an incredible success,” said Gordon McCall, Director of Motorsports for The Peninsula Signature Events. “Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, the world-class guests at our panels, the beautiful atmosphere, and, most of all, the enthusiasm and love of our amazing automotive community, this event has continued to grow and improve year after year. We already can’t wait to see what 2020 brings!”
