The Jaguar E-Type is the symbol of the 60’s revolution. The E-type was shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961 to a gobsmacked public, and it was nothing less than a beautiful road-going Le Mans inspired racer with its origins tracing back to the D-type. Its design changed the sports car world and left an imprint that is visible even today. With over 70,000 of them being built during its fifteen-year life, the E-Type is one of the most successful sports cars ever made. It has also been the perennial wild child and a favorite of the super-rich and the elite. The E-type designer applied his love for aircraft and infused mathematics plus aerodynamics to make a sports car look unlike anything else. Those curves and the lines are all form and function together. No wonder that it had a long list of celebrity owners, including Steve McQueen and Brigitte Bardot, plus more!

Hence, to pay tribute to this iconic automotive design piece, Bremont Watches has released a limited-edition collection of timepieces to celebrate 60 years of the E-Type. The collection features two limited-edition watches, and it has a vintage design dial to mimic the gauges found in the dashboard of the E-type. It is also Bremont’s first-ever rally timer. The rally timer infuses two mechanical instruments- a stopwatch with a tachymeter on the left, as well as a clock with sub-seconds on the right. Both are mounted on an engine-turned back-plate. The watch is a 43mm stainless-steel chronograph and is coated with a scratch-resistant DLC treated case barrel.

Some of the detailing is also wonderful, with references to the car in various areas. The hour and minute hands, for example, are designed to replicate the tachometer of the E-Type while it has a winding crown with the same pattern as the Dunlop tires fitted to the car. Of course, paying homage to the E-Type cannot be complete without those spoked alloy wheels, which are so central to the car’s ethos; hence there is also a sapphire crystal case back with the same look.

Each watch will have a 22mm Jaguar leather strap, while the color options include a green and a grey palate. Each set has two different colored ones, and there would be 60 pieces in green and 60 in grey. Also, every box set comes with a rather special unique driving experience thanks to Jaguar Classic. Around 120 customers will get the chance to drive three iconic E-types and put them through their paces at Jaguar’s Fen End facility. This limited-edition chronograph is rather well priced at about $16,495 and is surely a must-buy for any E-type fan!
