More than 700hp is a serious amount of horsepower, and now the Porsche 911 is available with this much power as well. The latest 992.2 avatar of the 911 Turbo S throws caution to the wind and embraces electrification for a massive power bump, along with being the fastest 911. This is now a bona fide supercar killer with this much performance being honed within the familiar 911 silhouette. It is more expensive too with a serious price-tag of $272,650 starting and unlike the GT models, this 911 is an Autobahn express with speed in its mind. It follows the complex hybrid powertrain of the 911 GTS but adds one more turbocharger. It is much quicker than the previous 911 Turbo S, and that is saying something.

The 911 Turbo S is the most complete and versatile form of driving a Porsche 911. Whether in daily use, on long autobahn journeys or on the racetrack – we have made the new 911 Turbo S even more comfortable, more individual, and significantly faster than its predecessor,” says Frank Moser, Vice President of the 911 and 718 model line.

Well said. The new 911 Turbo S, as a result, has a lightweight high-voltage battery with a capacity of 1.9 kWh and the hybrid system with a 400V system. There is no manual gearbox in sight as there needs to be an automatic gearbox to harness all that power, and, in this case, it is an eight-speed PDK which is integrated with an electric motor, and the car is, of course, having all-wheel drive. Which means the car will now do 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, and it will take only 8.4 seconds to crack 200 km/h. Despite all that, the new Turbo S is just 85 kilograms heavier than the earlier one and the car is said to be more agile.

Porsche has worked a lot on the various developments but the styling is subtle when compared to the firepower underneath the hood. The styling changes are like the new standard 911, but it is not as loud on the outside as some of the other cars in this class. There are some classic 911 Turbo touches like the obligatory extendable and tilting rear wing and the wider tyres at the back. It is a serious machine built for the business of going fast indeed. Inside, it’s somber, but it works and has a high-quality cabin. New to the Turbo S is the addition of carbon-structured trim strips with neodyme trim and a perforated microfiber headliner plus ‘Turbonite’ accents throughout the cabin. Standard is a two-seater configuration, while there is a cabriolet version too if you fancy wind in your hair motoring with ferocious speed.

So, the new Turbo S is now an even faster 911 with all-weather capability and its pursuit of relentless speed. Along with that it also remains the fastest iteration of this iconic sportscar while also writing a new chapter for Porsche in embracing the concept of electrifying performance.
