Irish-American designer Paul Costelloe is widely regarded as one of the most prominent figures in both British and Irish fashion. Since founding his eponymous fashion house, his family-owned business has become known for combining hand-crafted, luxurious fabrics with creativity and collaborating with renowned manufacturers to produce collections that are celebrated for their exceptional quality.
Paul’s fashion journey began at the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris, where he honed his craft during the era of Ungaro and Cardin. He then went on to work for Jacques Esterel before moving to Milan, where he became the designer for the luxury department store La Rinascente. Later, a move to the US followed, and he designed for Anne Fogarty in New York, before launching his eponymous label.
In 1983, Paul was appointed personal designer to Diana, Princess of Wales, a collaboration that continued throughout her lifetime. As his brand flourished, Paul was invited to showcase his collections at London Fashion Week beginning in 1984, where he continues to present, with his latest collection, Fall 2025, recently unveiled.
Speaking of which, for Fall 2025, the designer brings his heritage brand, Paul Costelloe Dressage, to the London Fashion Week catwalk. Inspired by his lifelong love of equestrian skill, Paul created a collection that reflects strength, volume, space, and energy.
Think sumptuous fabrics from Magees of Ireland and Harris of Scotland work in harmony with his innate skill to create shapes and structures to the highest expression in design.
Drawing on his painterly expertise, he explored an autumnal palette of chestnut browns, amber yellows, winter creams, berry reds, and midnight blacks. As in previous seasons, prints remain a focal point of his collection. This season, the in-house team designed a narrative print that captures the essence of the modern equestrian world.
Traditional Irish knitwear and wool hosiery added a rich texture to this majestic collection. Dressage, the foundation of all equestrian sport, showcased the harmony and partnership between horse and rider. This season, Paul collaborated with jeweler P.K. Bijoux to create complementary pieces that brought a touch of glamour to the arena.
Paul Costelloe Bags and Accessories introduced dressage-inspired leather pieces with a classic yet contemporary aesthetic. Featuring iconic saddle bags in full-grain leather with dressage-inspired hardware, full-waisted leather belts, and essential riding gloves, the collection was truly gold medal-worthy.
