The Romantica Collection, drawn from a single 1986 European oak cask, is limited to just 258 bottles worldwide, each one positioned at the intersection of rarity, craftsmanship, and cultural memory.
The collection reunites three artists intrinsically linked to the legend of The Macallan 1926: Sir Peter Blake, Valerio Adami, and Michael Dillon, each commissioned to reinterpret the whisky’s four-decade maturation through a contemporary lens. Produced in editions of 86 bottles, every release is individually signed, transforming each into both a collectible spirit and a work of art.
Matured in a sherry-seasoned European oak cask laid down in 1986, the whisky reveals a profile of quiet complexity. Aromas of apricot conserve, ripe peach, and bittersweet toffee unfold into crystallised ginger, antique oak, and a trace of woodsmoke, hallmarks of long-aged whisky releases. On the palate, brown sugar, glazed stone fruit, dark cherry, and treacle give way to a lingering finish of dried fruits, leather, and cacao, layered, deliberate, and enduring.
For The Macallan, the release is less a tribute than a continuation.
