Following the recent debut of the Bespoke ‘Starlight Expanse’ collection – featured as the inaugural exclusive commission on the Spectre – Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced the next custom one-of-one creation ordered by a valued client. Spectre Semaphore, another extraordinarily Bespoke manifestation of the phantasmagoric operational prowess of the Spectre – the world’s most sought-after all-electric super-luxury car – and a creativity statement for the modern world, will break cover publicly on 16 August at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering in California, as the signature event of Monterey Car Week 2024. It’s a commission totally in tune with the principles and codes of the ultra-luxury world that contemporary, younger clients, many of them ‘first-time’ patrons of the marque, are writing for themselves.
Bespoke Semaphore Yellow – the color that lends this commission its name – adorns its exterior coachwork, while a new graphic on its bonnet fashioned after the laidback air of the Californian coastline is dubbed ‘Marbled Paint Spill’, executed in the traditional Rolls-Royce Union Jack livery. Its abstract expression of the Californian melting pot of influences and its unique personality echoes, in the vernacular of southern California, the glittering light all the way to the birch trunks of the east.
It is driven home by the partners, an intricate motif carved perfectly symmetrically by Rolls-Royce craftspeople who apply silver lacquer to the surface and then buff on to it layers of clear coat from 1.1 millimeters thick down to 20 or 25 microns to erase all joins and imperfections before it smooths out to perfection. Crafting the bonnet alone takes more than 160 hours.
A further touch, the interior is finished in yellow to match the exterior. Seats, Starlight doors, and above the instrument panel are a mix of Bespoke Lemon Yellow and Citrine Yellow. Further visually challenging, contrasting effect is provided by unstitched Grace White and Slate Grey to create a bold diamond pattern against the Lemon Yellow stitching. Taking full advantage of the digital Bespoke possibilities, the marque’s designers developed the dial face of the motor car’s clock to match the motor car’s bright yellow colorway.
To finish what is sure to be a cool interior suite, we match the white oak wood spec in the Bespoke for Spectre Semaphore millwork line, painted in ‘Cashmere Grey’, a grey hue with silver mica flakes, adding a touch of sparkle to direct light.
There will be just one, unique example of the Rolls-Royce Spectre Semaphore.
