6 Sumptuous Kitchen Updates You Should Consider

Is your kitchen looking old and uninviting? Perhaps it’s time for an update. Check out these sumptuous kitchen updates you can make.

Ready to spice up your kitchen? If so, you are right in line with 43 percent of survey responders that said they could no longer stand their old, outdated kitchens.

The average kitchen renovation project ranges from $12,567 to $34,962, depending on your finishes, choices, and extent of the project. If that is not in your budget or you just want a quick refresh, no worries.

Turn on the heat with these kitchen updates and give your old kitchen new life.

1. Paint the Cabinets

The cabinets are the center of your kitchen. If your cabinets are in great shape and you don’t want to install new cabinets, you can paint the cabinets for a new look.

Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to prep. You need to give the surface a thorough cleaning and fill any holes with wood putty. Make sure you sand the surface between layers and give the paint adequate time to dry completely.

2. Hang Your Cookware

You can complement your kitchen and save cabinet space by hanging your beautiful cookware overhead. Make sure you choose a spot that you won’t bump your head often, but the pots and pans are still easy to reach.

3. Add a Backsplash

One of the best ways to add a pop of color and excitement to your kitchen is to add a backsplash. There are several materials to choose from, including tile, subway tiles, stainless steel, mosaic stick on, and chalkboard paint.

You can go bold with a patterned tile, or stick to the classic subway tile. Backsplashes are more than for looks; they can protect your wall from stains.

You can also spice up the flooring with colored grout. Use a dark grout to make white tiles pop or gray for an aged appeal.

4. Open It Up

Do you feel like your kitchen is stuffy and don’t want to paint your cabinets? Try removing the doors on your upper cabinets to make it more spacious. You can paint the interior to match the base cabinets.

Don’t like the look of your cabinets? Try removing your upper cabinets and add open shelving instead of getting an airy feel.

5. Include the Kitchen Sink

Try replacing your sink. Upgrade the faucet for a new focal point in your kitchen. You can opt for a large single basin farm sink for a new look.

6. Update the Hardware

Little changes can make a big difference, and that is true with hardware. They may not seem like a big deal, but you can make a significant impact on the look of your kitchen by updating the hardware.

Find some that match your personality. The average kitchen has about 40 knobs, and drawer pulls, so you may want to look at a set or price out individually. You can give your kitchen a vintage look with decorative and colorful hardware.
