While online casinos accept anybody who can afford to make a deposit and don’t care what their customers wear while playing, land-based casinos are always looking to welcome rich and famous players, especially high rollers who are willing to stake huge amounts on their table games and slot machines.

Some casinos permit only the elite sections of society, giving them an exclusive environment to network and have a great time. The Kurhaus of Baden-Baden is an excellent example of casinos of the elite. It is internationally acclaimed as the world’s most opulent and extravagant casino.

Brief History

The Kurhaus of Baden-Baden is one of the oldest and most popular casinos in Germany. It’s more than just a casino as you will also be able to host conferences and enjoy some relaxing massages at the spa. This high roller casino resort is found in Germany’s Baden-Baden, located on the outskirts of the Black Forest.

The renowned artist Friedrich Weinbrenner constructed it in 1924, nearly 200 years ago. Featuring Corinthian columns and a neo-classical design, the building was meant to be a luxurious casino right from the beginning.

The venue became famous all over the world in the 1830s when France outlawed all forms of gambling, forcing French players to cross the border and play at the Kurhaus. According to Marlene Dietrich, the German-American actor, and singer, the Kurhaus is the most beautiful casino in the world.

Playground of the Elite

The Kurhaus is the playground of the elite—wealthy and famous people who expect to be treated like royals and who are capable of moving and shaking the world. Only wealthy businessmen and celebrities can afford to enter this historic casino. It is, therefore, the most expensive casino in the world.

In the nineteenth century, it gained the reputation of being one of the most stylish casinos for Europe’s wealthy and famous. And it managed to maintain this reputation, although it had to remain closed for nearly 60 years between 1872 and 1933.

Today, it continues to hold that reputation. The casino stands head and shoulders above lavish casinos such as Hotel de Paris, Las Vegas’ Bellagio, and Casino de Monte Carlo. While high rollers like to dress up and go out to the casino for a night of fun and entertainment, we know that there are a lot of players who still prefer the online casino experience. Players might even decide to practice games like blackjack online, such as those seen here, before heading out for a night at the gambling tables.

A sophisticated atmosphere inside the casino rooms

The casino’s international flair and adherence to traditional values have made it the favorite of the most beautiful, powerful, famous, and wealthy people in the world. Visitors can spend several exciting hours in the casino’s elegant environment, playing classic table games such as blackjack, poker, and roulette. The casino also hosts entertaining events such as evening dances, cabaret, fashion shows, and famous authors’ readings.

The gaming floor offers more than 150 games, including table games and slots. Although it occupies 2,200 sq. ft., the gaming floor can accommodate a large number of games. A section of it is dedicated to slots, bingo, and video poker. There is also a separate section for jackpot games and a poker room that runs games with small to large buy-ins. It conducts poker tournaments every week, including a special event on the first Sunday of every month.

The entry fee to the main casino is €5. If you want to play only slots, you can do so by paying only €1. If you are interested in table games, you must adhere to a dress code of jacket and shirt. The casino rents jackets to male players who happen to stroll in. You can be casually dressed while playing slots.

Plenty of Non-Gaming Action Available

When you have had enough gambling, you can entertain yourself in one of the following two ways.

First, you can visit The Grill, which features a modern menu and appearance. The restaurant’s focus is on beef and sushi, although it offers many more exciting dishes. It features a roofed exterior and a stylish lounge area. While playing games in the glass pavilion adjacent to the restaurant, you can enjoy amazing views, which you cannot get anywhere else in Germany.

Second, you can head over to the Bernstein Club, one of the hottest clubs in Baden, featuring live DJs, live acts, and amazing parties.

If you are having a great time at the casino resort, you can extend your time by staying for a few days at the Dorint Maison Messmer Baden-Baden, a four-star resort close to the casino. The Kurhaus has partnered with this resort for the benefit of its customers.

Host of International Events

The Kurhaus of Baden-Baden has been the host of several international summits, congresses, and events over the years. Here are a few:

Chess Tournament – The 20th step of the international chess master’s tournament was held at the Kurhaus in 1925.
