When MB&F first unveiled the Legacy Machine No. 2 in 2013, it became an instant icon of independent horology. Released initially in red gold, white gold, and platinum, the LM2 embodied the maison’s unique blend of mechanical mastery and artistic boldness. Today, that narrative continues with the arrival of the LM2 Titanium, a limited edition of just 18 pieces, marking the evolution of one of MB&F’s most celebrated creations.
A New Expression in Titanium
Crafted from Grade 5 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V alloy), the LM2 Titanium redefines lightness and strength through both form and feel. Yet, it’s the vivid blue-green dial—a hypnotic hue achieved through the same chemical vapor deposition technique as the famed LM1 M.A.D. Dubai—that truly captivates the eye.
The case, now one millimeter slimmer, exudes refined proportion, while the polished bezel replaces the earlier brushed finish for a more contemporary, mirror-like gleam. Subtle, sculpted bridges secure the dual “flying” balance wheels, their rounded forms and high polish adding depth and luminosity to the dial’s visual architecture.
A Symphony of Dual Regulation
Inside, the LM2 Titanium beats with a rare horological soul: a dual-regulator movement developed exclusively for MB&F by Jean-François Mojon (Chronode) and Kari Voutilainen.
Two independent balance wheels, each oscillating at its own rhythm, are harmonized by a planetary differential—a mechanical brain that continuously averages their rates to ensure perfect precision. This dance of duality is more than technical prowess; it’s kinetic poetry, visible through the high-domed sapphire crystal that reveals every flicker of motion.
Artistry Rooted in Tradition
The LM2 Titanium is not just a watch—it’s an homage to 19th-century craftsmanship elevated through modern innovation. Each of its 241 components bears the hallmark of artisanal devotion: polished internal bevels, hand-made engravings, Geneva waves, and gold chatons set with polished countersinks.
Despite its futuristic material, the timepiece feels timeless—anchored in the same heritage that once defined classical horology, yet forward-looking in every sense.
Refined Strength, Rare Craft
Housed in a 44mm titanium case, the watch resists water up to 30 meters, combining resilience with sculptural beauty. The ensemble is completed by a black hand-stitched alligator strap with a titanium tang buckle—an understated complement to a watch that commands attention without ever needing to shout.
The LM2 Titanium’s allure lies in its paradox: light yet powerful, traditional yet radical. And at $138,000 USD in titanium, $156,000 in 18K gold, or $190,000 in platinum, it remains a creation for those who understand that mastery is not just measured in complications, but in vision.
