Few symbols in modern luxury are as instantly recognizable as the Serpenti. For more than half a century, the motif has embodied transformation, seduction, and bold femininity for Bvlgari. With its ongoing Serpenti Through the Eyes Of initiative, the Roman maison invites contemporary designers to reinterpret the icon through a new cultural lens. When Alexander Wang joined the series, the result was an unexpected dialogue between Roman heritage and downtown New York irreverence.

The collaboration was unveiled in characteristic Wang fashion—through a high-energy event at the former Henri Bendel headquarters on Fifth Avenue. Editors and collectors gathered to witness a partnership that felt both inevitable and disruptive. The codes of a storied Italian house met the raw utility and street sensibility that have defined Wang’s rise, creating a capsule collection that captured the spirit of its moment while remaining grounded in craftsmanship.

At the center of the project was the Serpenti Forever bag, reimagined across a series of modern silhouettes designed for contemporary life. Belt bags, shoulder bags, satchels, and structured totes explored functionality without sacrificing refinement. The palette—crisp white, deep black, and fresh mint—offered a clean, architectural clarity, while the signature serpent-head hardware remained the collection’s focal point.

Wang’s interpretation emphasized practicality and ease. He approached luxury through the lens of everyday rituals, transforming objects associated with convenience into covetable statements. Inspiration came from unexpected sources: dust bags, paper shopping bags, and watch boxes. These references challenged traditional notions of exclusivity, suggesting that modern luxury is defined as much by relevance and attitude as by heritage.

The designer’s visit to the Bulgari archives provided a turning point. Encountering an original 1960s serpent-head piece, he was drawn to its sensuality and symbolism. “It was a nod to the sinful woman,” he remarked, “and that was something I could relate to.” The result is a collection that feels both playful and provocative—an exploration of transformation that echoes the Serpenti’s enduring mythology.

The campaign, fronted by Hailey Bieber, reinforced the dialogue between generations. It positioned the house within contemporary culture while honoring its Roman identity. As Bulgari continues to expand its influence across fashion, jewelry, and lifestyle, collaborations such as this underscore the brand’s ability to remain both timeless and forward-looking.

More than a capsule collection, the project reflects a broader shift in luxury. Today’s most compelling maisons do not simply preserve their archives—they reinterpret them, allowing heritage to evolve in conversation with the present.
