Casa La Playa, exotic jungle hideaway of a woman who resides in Paris

Casa La Playa is the exotic jungle hideaway of a woman who resides in Paris. Cascading down a small hill onto an incredible stretch of private beach, Casa La Playa is indeed an extravagant and elegant home.

Coming to this isolated area on Mexico’s Pacific about 25 years ago, when the access was by dirt road, and there were no telephones, the owner decided to commissioned Robert Couturier to design this house. The interiors are all pure white with huge windows to capture the surrounding vibrant tropical colors. The round rooms offer panoramic views of the ocean, mountains, and gardens. Nothing rustic in this jungle abode. It is an interesting juxtaposition, the sleek, sophisticated interiors against the unspoiled wild setting. One can see dolphins and whales offshore; sea birds glide overhead while deer, coatimundi, and even wild boar inhabit the surrounding jungles.

An idyllic day can be spent around the tiled pool set directly on the beach. Colorful fabrics from Mexico and Central America adorn the pool furniture, and an adjoining palapa provides respite from the sun and a perfect place for lunch served by the friendly staff.

At sunset, the activity moves to the villa’s large outdoor living area with its picture-perfect view of the setting sun and then retiring to the candlelit dining room for dinner. The cuisine is sophisticated and almost 100% organic from local farms, what is harvested in the morning is served the same day for the ultimate farm to table experience. From there, the evening moves to the stunning living room for conversation and cocktails served by the ever-attentive staff.
