Jumeirah Group, with 24 branded properties in eight countries, recently announced its European flagship hotel, The Carlton Tower Jumeirah, opened after an extensive 18-month revitalization estimated at $137 million. Previously known as Jumeirah Carlton Tower, the hotel is located in the heart of London’s fashionable Knightsbridge district and opened on July 26, 2021. The luxury hotel is where history and sophistication meet and was thoughtfully redesigned by 1508 London to cater to a new generation of discerning guests. Its name change not only reflects the significance of the most extensive transformation in all its history where iconic heritage meets modern sensibility, the hotel originally opened in 1961, its exterior design blends the surrounding architecture with an eclectic mix of materials and colors, while the new interiors offer a refined modern classic and sophisticated vibe.
Changes at the hotel truly were all-encompassing with a new foyer and reception, health club and spa with London’s largest naturally lit swimming pool, flagship restaurant, lobby bar and lounge, ballroom, and meeting rooms. “With renovations complete, we are confident the hotel will now rank among the world’s best, and we’re thrilled to re-establish ourselves as the place to be seen in London,” said Aaron Kaupp, Regional Vice President Northern Europe and General Manager of The Carlton Tower Jumeirah.
The complete renovation of the hotel, with new rooms, restaurant offerings, spa, and lobby entrance envelops guests in a world where they can expect the unexpected. When the hotel originally opened they offered 216 bedrooms and suites and with the recent renovation, now there are a total of 186 new bedrooms and suites, which offer more space and natural light, with 87 of the rooms also featuring balconies with spectacular views of the city. The hotel’s new and most exclusive residence, the Royal Suite features two luxurious entertaining areas, a guest powder room, and a spacious bedroom with a super king-size bed and walk-in wardrobe. A balcony offers spectacular views, and the oversized bathroom features a spacious walk-in shower and Jacuzzi. There is also the option to privatize the entire floor with security.
The Peak Fitness Club & Spa, covering three floors of the hotel, offers holistic workouts tailored to each guests’ lifestyle and a naturally lit 20-meter swimming pool. The bright interior of the swimming area with its glass ceiling now features new cabanas and thermal areas while the 8,500 sq ft gym provides panoramic views of London and offers exclusive studio classes. Unwind at 6,500 sq ft Talise Spa, a luxurious homage to health and wellness and truly the heart of the beautiful transformation of the property. The hotel also sits on Cadogen Gardens, which offers a lush and private green space for additional wellness recreation such as yoga and tennis.
Head Chef Marco Calenzo offers sophisticated international cuisine at both of the hotel’s dining offerings, Al Mare and The Chinoiserie. Al Mare, meaning “at the sea” in Italian, offers a sophisticated yet informal dining experience for guests, which features (you guessed it) modern Italian fare with a focus on fresh items from the sea complemented by a carefully curated wine list and artisanal cocktails. The Chinoiserie is an all-day dining area with a lovely afternoon tea menu in an elegant and light space. The hotel has also partnered with Annabel Karmel, an award-winning children’s cookery and nutrition expert based in the U.K., to design children’s menus at both restaurants.
Centrally located, tower above the bright lights of the city as guests are mere steps away from luxury shopping at Harrods and Sloane Street, cultural institutions like the Victoria and Albert Museum, and several local restaurants.
