When we think about French cars we think of Peugeot and Renault but rarely supercars except for Bugatti of course but here are a rare supercar that you can now own. SBX Cars offers this 2021 Genty Akylone Prototype with just 300 miles and with no reserve. This striking-looking supercar was dreamed up by Frenchman Frédéric Genty who had a career in advanced composite materials and high-tech prototyping. He founded the company Genty Automobiles and made the Akylone prototype. The voluptuous proportions include fiberglass panels on a tubular steel chassis which points to a future carbon chassis of the production model.

It also is aimed as an analog driving machine with a targeted removal of modern driving technologies that sap the sensations while having a 5.2L V10 from an Audi R8 but fettled with twin turbos. This means that it brings in a lot of power within this lightweight body while the driving experience would be quite intense with such a powertrain being used. Also, the focus here is on the sensation of driving rather than just performance numbers. This supercar is manufactured, and assembled in the heart of the Auvergne Rhône Alpes region of France.

Hence, the Genty Akylone is a French “homage to beauty and performance” and “the ultimate expression of automotive pleasure and passion.” Rather interestingly while this prototype is technically useable, is intended to be displayed as a piece of art for the owner. The Akyone has a planned production and this powertrain develops an astronomical 1000 horsepower. The later production cars would have a bespoke V8 though. Hence, it is aimed as a Bugatti rival with the same ethos but also has a lightweight construction with advanced materials seen today on supercars of various shapes and sizes.

The design is indeed quite beautiful with various intriguing design details being etched into it. Our favorite is how it unwraps like a Faberge egg and the detailing that goes behind it. For owners, this is a showpiece meant for display and it is also a chance to own a rare prototype! If you fancy it, you can also bid on it with no reserve and we have to say, it is indeed one of the most beautiful one-off cars ever being made!
