Staying true to the belief that creative energy comes in seven years cycles, Maximilian Büsser and MB&F, debuted the Legacy Machine FlyingT in 2019, seven years after the Legacy Machine was born, which was seven years into the company’s existence. As the first of MB&F’s three-dimensional horological art pieces dedicated to women, the beautiful timepiece was inspired by Büsser’s female role models.
Embodying true elegance and a softer touch with rich and complex femininity, the watch was launched in 2019 with three white gold diamond-set editions. In 2020 it was launched with limited editions in red gold and platinum and in 2021, the LM FlyingT added a new edition in vivid green malachite.
“I created MB&F to do what I believe in, making three-dimensional sculptural kinetic art pieces that give the time; I was creating for myself,” said Büsser. “I wanted LM FlyingT to possess the epitome of femininity as reflected by the women in my life, particularly my mother. It had to combine supreme elegance with tremendous vitality.”
Conceived and developed in-house by MB&F, the three-dimensional vertical architecture and automatic winding engine of the watch is met with the true beauty of 18K white gold and diamond along with limited editions (18 of each) 18K red gold with black guilloché dial or platinum 950 with sky-blue guilloché dial. With a power reserve of 100 hours driven by its sun-shaped rotor, a diamond is delicately set atop the upper flying tourbillon cage with hours and minutes set on a 50° inclined dial display.
Awarded the Prix de la Complication pour Dame at the 2019 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, the case features 17 total components while the engine of the watch features 280 total components and 30 jewels. To complement the beautiful domed-shaped watch, calf or alligator leather straps are available with a white gold pin buckle matching the case.
