The allure of traditional French Bistro, Artisanal Fromagerie, is made even greater by the new direction of veteran restaurateur Sarid Drory. Drory’s plans are to keep many of the well-loved traditional elements of the restaurant, such as it’s reputation for one of New York City’s largest fine wine and cheese selections, and add elements such as a chef’s table in a private room named “The Cheese Cave”, a live jazz band, interior upgrades and a new sidewalk café for spring and summer.
We’re most looking forward to the winter offerings, where you can escape the cold city air outside and relax at one of the intimate bistro tables with a nice glass of wine. The restaurant will be holding Holiday Dinner reservations, and offering a complementary basket for each table at the holiday dinners that will include cheese, wine, and jam at a $100 value. Throughout the year, the Happy Hour Special runs Monday – Friday from 3-6pm. Ordering a drink at Artisanal is an experience in itself. Joshua Copeland, Sommelier and Beverage Director, is passionate about each drink that is poured. He studied service at Del Posto, Spirits and Classic Cocktailing at Maison Premiere, wine and sherries the cellars at Hearth and Terroir. Carlos Vasquez is the house Mixologist and at 27 years old, he has made a name for himself based on his connection with guests. His many regular customers come to see him not only for the 21 unique cocktails that he has created, but to talk about another of his life’s passions: U.S. History from 1920 through 1930’s. Sarid Drory has expanded Artisanal’s already-generous wine list, which now boasts 600 bottles and 80 wines by the glass, as well as the bar menu which now includes 79 high-end scotches, 50 tequilas, 75 vodkas, 45 bourbons, 45 gins, and six sakes to pair with a variety of cheeses. Artisanal’s knowledgeable staff and head fromager can point out perfect wine pairing for one of the 250 soft and hard artisanal cheeses on offer.
Artisanal serves wines and champagnes by the glass using the coravin – an exclusive way to serve which extracts the wine without removing the cork, allowing for each nuance and flavor to stay in tact.
As a bottle of wine is poured and a cheese tray is passed around, laughter and noise fill the restaurant music begins to play – the perfect way to relax and enjoy an evening in the city. Artisanal Fromagerie and Bistro is located at Two Park Avenue and is open seven days a week, with weekend Brunch, and offers a Late-Night Menu until 2am. | For more information visit artisanalbistro.com | Artisanal Bistro Fromagerie | 2 Park Avenue New York, NY 10016 (Between Park ave and Madison ave) | 212.725.8585
