“There’s nothing like it in Seattle,” explained Four Seasons Hotel Seattle’s general manager Michael Pedder, speaking about the outdoor infinity pool. In an interview about the hotel, we discussed their signature suites, unique spa treatments, culinary philosophy and much more.
Tell me a little bit about the location of the Four Seasons Hotel Seattle.
Four Seasons Hotel Seattle opened in November 2008, near the waterfront of the city. It is located next to the Seattle Art Museum and next door to the iconic Pike Place Market. Truly the very best location to explore the city.
With regard to accommodations, how would you describe the top-tier suites, and what makes them so unique?
We have 13 luxury suites, including one Presidential Suite. Our suites are among the most spacious in the city. There is ample space for lounging and entertaining. The suites all have views of Elliott Bay, the Seattle Great Wheel and the urban downtown landscape. Our Deluxe Elliott Bay Suites, Governor’s Suite and Presidential Suite also have fireplaces and personal cocktail bars.
The relaxed residential-style décor and atmosphere is bright and airy and has a contemporary look with natural hues. Small touches elevate the sense of home, such as bathroom amenities and Bose Bluetooth speakers. Various works of art reproduced from the collection of our neighbor, Seattle Art Museum, are displayed.
With all our accommodations, our guests have access to INFINITY pool + bar, the only outdoor infinity pool in the city, stunning views and an array of daily poolside amenities. There is nothing like it in Seattle.
What kinds of signature spa treatments might you recommend guests hoping to relax and rejuvenate after a long journey?
After a long journey, any of The Spa’s massage treatments are perfect to soothe tired muscles and relieve stress. For the spa aficionado, the Four Hands Four Seasons massage is performed rhythmically by two therapists, while the River Rock massage uses heat from the stones to relieve sore muscles.
If your skin is dry from long airplane travel and you want to look refreshed for a meeting or a night out, the Oxygen Facial is a hydrating treatment. We also offer a full range of treatments tailored to men. Alternatively, if you don’t have time for a treatment, enjoy relaxing in the steam rooms or taking advantage of quiet reflection in the Relaxation Lounge.
How would you describe the philosophy underpinning the menu at Goldfinch Tavern, and what are some of your favorite dishes?
Goldfinch Tavern is about simply prepared Northwest ingredients. It’s a neighborhood restaurant feel in the heart of downtown Seattle. We have a great partnership with Ethan Stowell Restaurants. My favorite dishes highlight these, with the seafood being spectacular. Choose “Trust the Chef” and allow the team to create a unique dinner just for you, never the same thing twice!
What other unique experiences might guests be able to organize via the concierge to best experience the city?
They can arrange a visit to the Chihuly Boathouse (which is not open to the public) and where renowned glass artists Dale Chihuly has several works of art and a working studio. Other experiences include private wine tastings to trips on the water catered by our executive chef. Our concierge team really takes pride in creating personalized experiences for our guests, so I really invite people to connect with them to discover what Seattle and the region are all about.
