There is a reason why the French Riviera is one of the most popular destinations for couples. In 2014, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie joined a not-so-select group of people who tied the knot in the region. The French Riviera offers something for every taste, from stunning and unique scenery to exquisite cuisine. The area, which is synonymous with luxury, provides the perfect romantic backdrop to your honeymoon.
As usual, supply follows demand, so there is no shortage of services available to make any honeymoon in the area special, from luxury rental car options to the finest gourmet restaurants. Here are a few of our top tips to enjoy the region to the fullest in 2015.
Accommodation
Perhaps one of the most difficult decisions you will need to make when planning your honeymoon in the French Riviera is where to stay. With so many different locations spanning from St Tropez to Monaco and a whole host of potential beautiful towns to visit, you may be torn between a variety of options. One of the many advantages of hiring a villa is that they offer much more privacy than hotels. Wake up to a view over the azure waters of the Mediterranean and enjoy brunch out on your very own garden before heading down to your own private beach. St Tropez House and Affinity Holidays France both have villas on the coast in the region that would be ideal for an intimate holiday. Traditional properties include Mas and Bastides now tend to marry traditional Provencal style with all of the modern comforts guests require.
Yacht Charter
An alternative to the luxury accommodation found on land is to book a luxury yacht charter on the French Riviera. A whole host of companies offer luxury yachts for charter in the region, but for a family-run, personalized service, look no further than Silver Star Yachting. A yacht charter offers couples the freedom to explore the whole coastline in one vacation. Guests can discover the beautiful islands of St Marguerite near Cannes or the Caribbean like beaches of the Ile de Porquerolles. Alternatively, for something slightly more opulent, Monaco, Cannes and St Tropez all offer a fantastic bar and restaurant scene. Many companies also provide day charter options and dining experiences aboard luxury yachts.
Food
French cuisine is famous the world over, so the Riviera is an ideal location for couples who are interested in quality cuisine. The Cote d’Azur and Provence are famous for their products and markets, with olives, seafood and the local Rosé wine being among the best in Europe.
Dining out is a fantastic experience in the region, with Monaco boasting world-renowned restaurants such as the Buddha Bar and Le Louis XV. The former is famous for introducing an incredible oriental experience to the Principality, with a menu that includes sushi, fresh Chinese food, and Thai curries. The Buddha Bar also offers a lounge bar for cocktails and a resident DJ entertains guests. The Louis XV is a more traditional setting that was commissioned by Prince Rainier II in 1987 and molded by the internationally recognized chef Alain Ducasse. The menu also has a traditional feel to it, with the local influence clear in the cuisine offered in the restaurant. Guests are invited to decide between menus labeled “The Farm” and “The Sea.”
